My next car!
Today is Friday the 13th and according to some people it's a lucky day. Anyway, that is what the lottery company wants you to believe... They advertised like crazy over the past weeks to get us to buy tickets for today. And, well, for 54 million €, I might be tempted! Don't worry, if I win I will still be doing PDP (er... or hire someone to do it!) - And yes Monica, I might even buy you a second box of macarons for your birthday ;)

What a great shot Eric - one of your best.
ReplyDeleteIs someone having a birthday? ;)
ReplyDeleteSuperb shot of that 2 chevaux!
If you win, why don't you fly all the loyal DP's into Paris for a party! Sounds like a great idea to me.
ReplyDeleteI’m a sucker for chrome work on classic cars – especially black ones (see New York Daily Photo’s post of July 5th this year). I would even go so far as to say that when it’s in mint condition and polished to a showroom shine, it ceases being mere metal and becomes automotive jewellery. It’s always excessive, of course – no one could seriously argue that (bumper bars aside) its function is in any way structural – but that’s the point, isn’t it? It’s about providing a decorous display of formal superfluity, of shameless metallic rapture; even in the case of relatively modest vehicles with few, if any, other luxuries to boast of, or to tax one’s wallet. In the case of prestige cars Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Rolls Royce, etc), on the other hand, the ostentation extends to the “jewel in the crown” of their silvery trimmings – the hood ornament. I guess that’s why I like this shot so much, and why I think that in its own - quite spectacular - way it serves as a strikingly “complete” portrait of its subject: that and the fact that, due to Eric's dramatic choice of angle and framing, the streamlined siren in question seems about to leap out of my screen and into my room.
ReplyDeleteEric, mon Dieu, that's the biggest #%&*@+! scooter I've ever seen. Oh, wait,....
ReplyDeleteLovely. Cars hold a special place in most of my comrades hearts (Americans). I suppose it's a luxury that we can't seem to escape. Except, I must say, I hate SUV's. Especially if parked between two.
ReplyDeleteEric,
ReplyDeleteThere is(used to be 10 months back for sure) a very good car shop next to Metro Station of Michel-Ange-Molitor on Line-9. May be you can post some picture from there for PDP.
A+
Funny Jeff! LOLs
ReplyDelete...as for the photo...well, it doesn't sneak up on you! It smacks you right in the face with a "I've got a shiny winged trophy on my car; what do you have on yours?" Ah,well I ah...bird droppings (sigh)!
Eric, I have my fingers crossed for you!!!
ReplyDeleteYou'll probably think I'm some kind of maniac, but when I read "54 million euros" I instantly thought 'just imagine how many boxes of macarons one could by with it...'
;-)
I like the picture and also played to Euromillions so we are now in the competition. Que le meilleur gagne.
ReplyDeleteI like this shot- and B&W is the best choice for it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I've always fancied beign driven round Paris in a swishy car - I assume you will have your chauffer's cap and gold braided jacket, and the engine purring ready for my arrival at CDG? I will of course be exiting from a first class cabin, so perhaps they will let you drive up to the plane????
ReplyDeletehahahaha on se met dans la rolls maintenant....
ReplyDeleteet bien non c'est pour moi le jacpot héhéhé LOL...
In the UK Friday 13th is seen as unlucky, interesting contrast.
ReplyDeleteAnd louis, it called automotive porn, OK?
Interesting photography.
ReplyDeleteIf you happened to visit my blog yesterday on the occasion of our 52nd anniversary, I want to thank you for stopping. "Thanks."

Have fun tomorrow with or without car!
ReplyDeleteune voiture de reve et de legende. ta photo en b&w lui rend un bel hommage je trouve. bon weekend
ReplyDeleteI would have thought that Paris Daily Photo was "L'esprit d'extase" on its own.
ReplyDeleteWe are certainly imbued with such spirit daily when we come to PDP.
A Rolls Royce in Paris is possibly anachronistic, but if you must have one Eric, then you should have one.
I think I will borrow your scooter when in Paris and go and see the "Tour Eiffel in the Mist", if I don't get run over by the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Ham: And who doesn't enjoy a bit of auto-eroticism every once and a while?
ReplyDeleteLouis London - Ah ah. I am in love with your prose (and anyone who quotes Roland Barthes on his profile will make me swoon.)
ReplyDeleteNow, Eric - I wonder how sexy the picture of your new scooter will be. My expectations are extremely high.
Let's all be cautious on this Friday the 13th. I'd rather think of it as a lucky day, but was bred to think of it as an unlucky one. But, frankly, I am not that superstitious.
Bon chance on the lottery, Eric! Beautiful photo! Bon weekend aussi!
ReplyDeleteI too am a fan of shiny chrome on large automobiles...something about it..don't know what?! I always said if I won the Lotto I would hire a driver to chauffeur my butt around so I wouldn't ever have to think about parking again! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThere are two schools of thought concerning Friday the 13th in the US..the "Anglo" school finds it as something to avoid because it has "Bad Luck" connotations, the "Latin" or "Contrarian" View[which group both of my parents belonged to]believed it was a day where something great could happen, and since the number 13 was also my lucky Zodiac[Aries]number...and my father said a lucky number for the French, we always expected "good" things....OKAY...I'm ready!!! LOL!!
Very cute lady on the car!
ReplyDeleteOooooh, shiny and beautiful Lovely.
ReplyDeleteMonica, I'm jealous! I didn't get anything for my birthday (June 5th) from Eric! You're sooooo lucky! (I'm just teasing you, Eric. I know you had no clue it was my birthday!!!)
As in the UK, we in America think of Friday the 13ths as unlucky. Well a vast majority of Americans anyways. Some people are even so frightened by Friday the 13th and the number 13 in general that there is an official phobia for it: Triskaidekaphobia. I, howeverm have always found Friday the 13th to be a lucky day for me, so I don't know what all the fuss is about. Guess I'm more in line with the French than I thought!
OK, I have to go to bed, but just wanted to let you know; I did NOT win the lottery and was not even close (2 numbers only) ;-(
ReplyDeleteWell, I bet I'm going to continue posting on PDP then...
Friday the 13ths have usually been good for me. My birthday is a 13th (although I was born on a Thursday). I prefer to feel lucky, so when I got my Publisher's Clearing House envelope in the mail I promptly returned it. Hopefully I'll win big! (Yeah, right.) :)
ReplyDeleteOOooh no here in UK it's thought to be UNlucky. Better luck with the lottery!
