Sooooooo Unique!

Do I really need to tell you who designed these shoes? No, I know, you all guessed Jean-Paul Gaultier (don't forget to pronounce the "L" in Gaultier, he's very picky about it!) did. Despite being a great designer (you may not like what he does, but you cannot deny he's got talent) he also happens to do other things. Hence his presence in Eurotrash, a program for the British Television (Channel 4) and soon, he's going to co-present the Eurovision song contest for the French television! Hilarious! BTW, these shoes cost 615 €. I know you would ask...

  1. LOOOOL this is shoes??! Unwearable to me. I'l sure Lynn will love them. ;)

  2. I'm* sure

Btw, we have to pronounce the 'L'? Really?
I can't imagine him on the Eurovision show...so bad. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  3. Well...I am speechless. I have to wonder what one would pair with these?

    ReplyDelete
  4. S&M shoes for Mrs. Claus?

  5. Wow, that's what the wealthy spend their money on, huh? I'd feel guilty paying that much for footwear...but next week we'll see somebody wearing them, I'm sure. Kind of looks like the old Chuck Taylor Converse high tops stuck inside a pair of...well the obvious. Hmmm...[insert positive statement]..."I do like the color scheme." :-) Thanks for capturing the latest in fashion, Eric.

    Congrats Guille...for, well the obvious.

  6. Gym shoe designers in America have begun making limited editions of their shoes which sell for as much as these red beauties. The gym shoes are not worn, but displayed as collector's items. And yes, they do appreciate in value. The always strange world of fashion never fails to amuse and surprise.

  7. (OMG, GF! GF!) Where are you all?
Off to bed, transport strike tomorrow, I will have to get up very early!!
Strikes again? Yes, more than ever... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  8. GF for Guille!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bravo!!! You are sooooooo unique, Guille;) That was for you today;)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Guille...I was wondering the same thing. High five to you...GF!!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. I can definitely say that I would never wear these.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Make that HIGH FIVES!!! (I'm going to indulge in some brisket and brew before the sun goes down...have a good night across the pond.) Cheers again!

  12. Yes! Yes! Yes!
    Wonderful shoes...
Talking about shoes, PHX-CDG you need to have a quick look in my blog... sorry I could not do it justice...but I tried my best.

    Guille GF! congrats!

    Kelly
What about a short (very) white dress? Or maybe one of those knee length trousers (in gray?) with a white blouse/shirt and a little red scarf around the neck.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Rose, don't forget to add a chair to sit on.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Rose, some very charming suggestions! I thought maybe a hat, and some necklaces though... ; ) However, I believe the sight of a short dress on me...with these shoes...would have everyone wondering which theatre in town was showing the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

    Perhaps the trousers. : )

    ReplyDelete
  15. High five Corinne and Coltrane!
    Coltrane, bon appétit.
Corinne you're unique too. I hope your afternoon with your children was good.
    See ya tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Rose, with a short white dress? No! You like these shoes?! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Guille I love them. They have character and style. Personally I would not buy a pair but I do like them. Like Kelly I would pass on the white short dress and go for the trousers, you though sweetie could wear the white short dress!

And USElaine, why would I need a chair when I have a perfect walking stick ;)?

    ReplyDelete
  18. And for me, Rose, a "walker" would be called for - you know, one of those frames with the rubber feet that foll until you start to fall. If I could find one in black patent leather, it would make a sharp combo. And you know, the handy lace-up styling on these would accommodate swelling feet. Yes, very talented, this Gall-tee-air guy. ;^)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh, yeah, I'll vote for the short white dress.

    Remember the Elvis Costello song?

    Chaussures rouges,
Les anges veulent porter mes chaussures rouges

or something...Well, yes, maybe I comment too much. In bad French. I have to think...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sorry, that's "roll" until you start to fall...

    ReplyDelete
  21. A white short dress, yes of course, but not these shoes LOL.
Nite nite (let me leave PDP!!)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Jeff, STOP TEASING ME!
I don't comment too much and my English is just wonderful. Happy? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  23. SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOES!!!!

    Wait a minute.. RED SHOES!

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhh....

Love'm. Wouldn't be caught dead wearing them, though ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I LOVE These shoes if only they would appear in my closet. Now what to wear with them? Well the obvious jeans or you could wear some gray trousers with them.Either one of these with a white tshirt and some cool necklaces and some cool shades. THAT is what you wear with them. :)Have a happy day peoples. :P Good photo thanks Eric.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Nice crisp photo. Every once in a while a designer will come out with their version of "hi-heel sneakers". I bought a pair once when I was in London. They were black and white like the Converse sneaker except they were on a platform style of elevation, instead of a hi-heel. I use to get a lot of compliments on them in LA and in NYC. I only paid about 15 € for them. They were designed by an un-famous designer, unlike Gaultier. I normally like Gaultier's couture collection here is a link to his last http://www.style.com/fashionshows/collections/S2008CTR/complete/thumb/JPGAULTI

    ReplyDelete
  26. Crazy Daisy, LOL Kudos, That's the outfit. Don't forget the shades to hide behind.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Good Golly Miss Molly! Is this what Jerry Lee Lewis had in mind?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Fabulous shoes! I love Jean Paul Gaultier, even though many of his creations I would not wear.

Love Eurotrash too, we used to have this tv show here, but not for a long time now.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Tall Gary, thanks for the link -- I had forgotten how crazy Jerry Lee Lewis was. I really liked him alot. In his song he said, "put your red dress on". Hey, that would work with these. Or a little black dress (LBD).

    ReplyDelete
  30. As the lyrics go on to say, "Put on your high-heel sneakers. Wear your wig hat on your head . . ."
Hey, doesn't Rose already have a wig hat??

    ReplyDelete
  31. Spice Girl Victoria Beckham gave Chuck-wearing Ellen DG a pair of Jimmy Choos. . .but these might have been the better gift. . .
Sing it now, folks, "Put on your high heeled sneaekers, and your wig hat on your head." ;^)

  32. I thought of Rose when I saw these! If you haven't seen her shoe blog, then go look. She's the shoe maven around here.

If I wore them for a day--okay, if I wore them for half an hour--I'd need a 90-minute foot massage afterward. But it might be worth it just for the novelty. I like adventure.

    ReplyDelete
  33. So funny!! Converse meets Jimmy Choo?

Yeah. I'm not a high heel kind of girl at all. I wear them only under protest, but these are definitely over the top!! ;)

I just can't see them with anything other than a white bustier and a black frou-frou skirt though!!

    Thanks for sharing, Eric!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. The great advantage of being "une femme d'un certain age". I get to enjoy creations like these without feeling the slightest need to actually wear them!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Mon Dieu!! We go from "Walking on a Roof" to walking in "High Heeled Sneakers"!!! What's next??

As soon as I figure out which is more dangerous I'll let you know! Do they make them in a man's size 12B Eric??? LOL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Tonton -- which is more dangerous? It's the shoes for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I do like the looks of them, as art.

I'll go ahead and confess, right here in front of all of Eric's longtime companions, that this photo reminded me of the first PDP post I ever saw. I clicked through from the Blogger Blogs of Note, and was greeted by a vivid pink Nina Ricci dress! It got my attention. That's pretty recent, but can any of the rest of you remember your "first PDP"?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Groovy.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Alexa...You might be right...I can only imagine the kind of trouble a woman could get into wearing those shoes..other than a back or leg injury that is! LOL!!

uselaine..I do remember my first PDP post...and this is really going to date me, but I remember this SHOT quite clearly. I was doing a google search on Paris and Normandie and stumbled onto this site! I've been hooked ever since!! LOL!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Eric, that's a big coincidence. I've scheduled a photo on Saturday (thank you, Blogger!) since I'll be away, it will some "high heeled" (actually really high-top) sneakers. Drop by on Saturday!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Just saw that they cost 615 euros! Girls here would buy an inexpensive pair of sneakers and have their boyfriends glue them onto a pair of sandals! Les Serbes sont tres bricoleurs!

    ReplyDelete
  42. If one has not yet acclimated to wearing these, one might expect that when one attempts to walk in these that there could be "A Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On"!

Yeah, maybe a red dress would be suitable accompanying apparel. Perhaps red would be more visually harmonious than the eponymous Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels' "Devil with a Blue Dress."

  43. They look like a 21st century version of Dorothy's ruby slippers in The Wizard of Oz. Here's a pic of the originals:
    http://www.150.si.edu/150trav/remember/r1118.htm

Who should we cast as the new Dorothy?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ces chaussures seraient idéalement portées par Carrie Bradshaw !
(héroïne de Sex and the City pour les profanes).

    ReplyDelete
  45. he he i DO like them, Guille, you know me well. BUT, only for the design excellence, the quirkiness. The baseball-boot base of the design attracts me, though i'd much rather wear the actual boot with none of those heels going on! I could never walk in them but even so, they are not to my taste at all. It is possibl e to admire something without ever wanting it for one's own, and this is where i stand today. I tell you who these are made for; who i see wearing them easily - Carrie from Sex & The City.

I think when i pronounce JPG i do say the 'L' but only by chance. It's interesting he insists on it, Eric. I didn't know that.

I'd swap these shoes for his perfume any day, which i absolutely adore....mmmmm......the bottle too is 'divine, darling'.....

    ReplyDelete
  46. he he what a giggle yesterday's comments were. Eric...;) ....i've left you un petit message.....;);)

    ReplyDelete
  47. My first thought was WOW ? WOW ! Then LOL :D
And then I thought of Rose and her shoe blog. You have to get these in your collection Rose.

    ReplyDelete
  48. USelaine
You with your walking frame and I am with my walking stick...hahaha

I always said that when I get a old and can't wear high heels without holding on to things, I will either have an umbrella with a very strong structure or I will have a walking stick that is so extravagant that people will look at it and forget that is actually a walking stick!

Petrea...moi the shoe maven...oh my, thank you ;) Last week I cleared my cupboards out and I counted them: officially 203 pairs of shoes.

    Lydia
I think Monica would make a great Dorothy.

    Lynn
I like his perfums too. His fragances make me feel quite feminine ;) just what you need with a pair of shoes like these!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Bettina

If I did, I would have to change the laces. Probably some black silk laces.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh yes very feminine-feeling, Rose. Especially in that gorgeous lady-shaped bottle. I kid myself i look like that naked. Takes some kidding but surprisingly i get there. lol.

Next Hospital Episode - No. 2 - is published at Cheltenham today - all readers welcome! Forgive my shameless plugging - i'm not well yet and i think allowed. Eric? House-call? Groa.oa....n.........cough, cough....When is Eric coming? Is he coming to visit? Is he....? cough, cough. No the cough isn't a problem but it all helps doesn't it. Cough.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ugh. That has GOT to be about the most disgusting juxtaposition of 2 opposing styles that I've ever seen. I must admit that, as a teacher of high school students, some of my students would wear these. And it wouldn't matter what they 'went with' in the traditional sense. Everything seems to 'go together' in fashion these days. I mean, when you slap together red Converse tennies, and class black straps, what does it MATTER what you wear them with? Great photo, Eric.

    ReplyDelete
  52. The first post that "got me" - the one when Eric skulked on the bridge waiting to take a photo of the man who was proposing to the women that was a faithful PDP reader. So romantic and super sweet of eric to oblige.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I love these shoes: and, if I were a woman (or a drag queen) with the right figure and legs, I'd definitely wear them! (Admittedly, when I first saw them, I thought they were by Dame Vivienne Westwood, DBE, RDI, etc., but they're not quite "up yours!" enough to be one of her post-punk confections.)

Next time you're at the gym and see RuPaul on the treadmill, check out what he's got on his tootsies...

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ooh Eric. Only on the catwalk. I wouldn't know whether to wear them dancing or to a basketball game. M. Jean-Paul has pulled a clanger as we say down here.

    ReplyDelete
  55. M.K
    Don't be a spoil sport!
These shoes save you the worry to decide what to wear...
You really can't go wrong with them :) Black classy strappy sandals or converses, will fit most outfits! lol

  57. Dear Rose, I'm here!
I don't have access to a computer at home right now, so I just have time for a few words here at work...

    Take care you all!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lynn, The perfume sounds devine -- thanks for sharing that. Next time I am at the duty-free shop, I will have to check it out.

Rose, 203 pairs of shoes. WOW!!! Black laces hmmmm; I wonder if Gaultier thought of that.

Here's a little story about fashion and fragrances I told "from cali" the other day:

My mom was telling me that she saw a documentary about haut coutour and Madam Bloomingdale of the famed department store in NYC was in it. She said that Madam B has fifteen (15) closets of cloths. Each in their separate bag with a tag stating when she last wore it and where. I told her that the royals in NYC do that. I went to a royal ball at the Palace Hotel in NYC once. And the entire room had the odor of moth balls. The odor was overwhelming. My mom said, oh, of course -- I never thought of that. That kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it? Yes mom, my thoughts at the time too. After that, I felt very comfortable and elegant in my little black dress. Prior to that, I was very nervous that I would be too plain -- not elegant enough.

Lynn, Are we paging Dr. Eric again;-)

    ReplyDelete
  59. I think there were a couple of words spelled wrong in the last posting -- I'm hooked on phonics

    ReplyDelete
  60. Oh yes Lois, you must ! Page Eric i meant, but also try the perfume. It's really gorgeous. I'm just finishing up some Chanel No. 5 at the moment and am thinking that might be the next, if the wallet will stretch. I just cannot be without perfume. Who can?

Oh Er-ic!! Eric! ..... Eric? Dr. Eric are you there? I'm waiting at Cheltenham....! I'd like to say i'm in a bikini again but i'd be lying. Will a dressing gown do, Eric? Ivory coloured, soft as silk and warm as... me!.....Oh ER....IC.....!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Oh and Lois JPG for Men is just divine, also. Worth wearing trousers for.

Perhaps M. Gaultier-with-an-L would like to send a complimentary bottle to me? Well, it's worth a try huh.

Oh...another thing. Lois the perfume bottle comes in a lovely tin package, which i use for pens etc. afterwards. You can see it actually today at my blog at Cheltenham. Wow i'm a walking advert for JPG. I think he should send me that bottle! he he.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Monica
Get it sorted pronto. We can't live without you!

    Lois
If JPG ever reads this blog he will know that he has to send Lynnie here a bottle of one of his exclusive perfumes and where to come for advice on how to make..uhm...better looking shoes ;)

As for your spellings, you should not mention it but if anyone say anything, blame the keyboard!

Lynn, What a good idea. If only you ahd told me before. I throw the tin away when I was clearing my cupboards and unfortunately the rubbish was collect yesterday:(

    ReplyDelete
  63. Ohhh what a shame, Rose. Next time, huh. I use them for pens, art brushes, little soaps in the bathroom, i've even used them for small flowers. I've given quite a few away now so only have the one left too. Jean-Paul Gaultier is imprinted down the side. Not too shabby for Lynn. Divine Darling. Lynnie x - giggle.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Lynn you're right, who can live without perfume ???
I'm more into perfumes than shoes. I always have 5-6 different scents to change between according to mood, occasion, weather... you name it.
I think JPG should give us all a special PDP discount for promoting his shoes, perfumes etc.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Lynn it sounds as if this is your very favourite perfum ??? I mean all the tin cans you have had.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lynn, you're so funny. Monsieur Gaultier-with-a-pronouncable-L should most definitely send you a bottle of his perfume -- or maybe BRING you one.
Or give it to Eric to bring to you.
I, too, am never without my little spritz of perfume. But it's been the same one for about 20 years -- Paris (what else?) by YSL. My "signature" scent. My darling grandmother always wore Chanel No. 5. One day I smelled it on someone at work, and actually burst into tears.
    Amazing thing, the olfactory memory.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ok Rose, I'll try. Here's another quick word: love the conversation about the perfums. The next one I want to purchase - if the wallet stretches too - is CH from Carolina Herrera. It comes in a beatiful red bottle.

Lynn I'm re-watching all episodes of SATC. Not in the right order though. I'm about to watch the one where Carrie flies to Paris with, oh my, Mikhail Barischinikov. That's more than a girl can take...
Oh well, I'm getting ready for when the movie opens here!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I would wear these shoes if the sneaker part was ripped out... but I guess that's what makes them stylish!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I am on a campaign of only complementing ladies shoes which appear comfortable. So the next time a high fashion model crosses my path with shoes by Jean-Paul Gaultier I doubt if she will receive a complement. Maybe a second look though (smile) ...

Eric, thanks for registering at the Daily Photo Map. A thumbnail of your latest photo now appears on the map.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Eric, I love the shoes actually. Very darey and creative!

I also came across this today. A photo series of women in the Metro. I hear that the RATP isn't too happy. I can also tell you that none of them are sporting Gaultier's shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Michael!!! I can't believe you put that link in here! You are so naughty!
    Bad boy!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Denton
What if a woman is wearing high heels but is totally comfortable with them?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Alexa, that's very touching and i understand it completely. My own grandmother used to collect lovely soaps in her bathroom and if i get a whiff of that, it takes me back - a long way - she died when i was 14. Think of it this way though - we still have them with us through their scents.

Bettina, yes for me too. Perfume, then handbags, shoes are last. I do adore JPG, but then i love Coco Chanel too, and No. 5, i love Dior; La Dolce Vita, i love Poison, Ghost, ooooh so many!

Monica how lovely to watch SATC DVDs - i do it sometimes too. I may well in the coming days. The Paris one, ooooh i love it. Mikail is just so gorgeous is he not? I've admired him for years and then to see him on SATC....sigh... Don't you just love how he ran down the road after her handbag? Cooked her breakfast? Ordered her that dress? .... double sigh ...Couldn't you just see his dance moves in every move he made? Oh and the way he looks at Carrie...his apartment... mmmm everything. Ok we could be here all night. I could do with a house call from him too, while we're at it. Mikail? Oh Mik-ail!....

    ReplyDelete
  74. My, My, My, Michael....see you even have me stuttering! That is so risque. Such interesting outfits the model is nearly wearing. Someone should hand her a coat; she'll catch her death of cold.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Well Rose, I can be comfortable with high heels, but not in them. ;^) My ankles tend to twist, and .... saaaayyy, these heels come with two kinds of ankle supports! I may have to re-think this. Plus, wouldn't they look cool with beige clam-diggers, and a black polo while pedaling a bicycle?

    ReplyDelete
  76. My perfume is Marc Jacobs - keynote gardenia.

    ReplyDelete
  77. USElaine
    I love Marc Jacobs too...wonderful!

Stop correcting my grammar...you know what I meant :) I guess because I am size 7/8 it is slightly easier for me to wear really high heels. I can't help but love them and since I had this op on my toes and can't wear high heels I almost cry looking at my flat shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  78. The most stylish shoes I ever seen! Thank you Eric :)! You made my day again!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Lynn are you kidding?! I looove Mikhail Barishinikov since I was a teenager. I used to dance you know, modern ballet. I took some classic ballett classes too but stick to jazz. But since then I've been and admirer of Mikhail and I have to tell you that it was a dream come true when I saw him perform live at Rio Municipal Theather. I was completely in awe!!!

Rose I'm with you. I'm a big fan of high heels and rarely resist one when I see them at a window shop. Although I have to admit that to go to work on Rio's "pedras portuguesas" sidewalks, I jave to wear flats. Stilylish ones, of course!

    ReplyDelete
  80. Sorry if I shocked you with that link. I found it rather artsy vs distasteful. I apologise.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Love these shoes! even though I could never wear them! When I was in Paris last year I was amazed at the shoes some of the women were wearing, I felt so out of place in my cheap American flip flops! lol

    ReplyDelete
  82. Michael, don't apologise, I LOVED your link.
But I can't beleive that the RATP didn't know about this photo shot...the tube is empty!

    ReplyDelete
  83. Michael
I m sure you know I was joking..the link is great and the photography fab. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Don't apologise, Michael. You know we girls like a little shock-tactic now and then! he he. We love your links.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Michael, it wasn't at all shocking. In fact I've ordered a few of the outfits.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Petrea, you have an eye for chic at bargain prices. As for me, it's not a look I can wear anymore.

    ReplyDelete
