Bye bye Paris
So, this is it... I'm leaving my favorite city today to go on vacation for a month down under in Australia and New Zealand. Call me lucky, because I am! I certainly do hope to meet a few City Daily Photo bloggers when I am down there. I'll post a few dates later on when I'm sure of my schedule. Of course I'll be connected (not too much though) to PDP and will read your comments from the bush (do they have wi-fi in the bush?!) as, of course, as always, there will be no "service interruption" on PDP while I'm gone ;-). BTW I took this photo on the 1st floor of La cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine and I love it!

ET! ET! ET! I didn't know you were going to be away.
ReplyDeleteWhat will we do??? Or are you posting ahead (please say yes)?
Have a wonderful vacation, Eric.
ReplyDeleteI do like this peek of the Eiffel Tower. I wish I had this view to look upon every day.
Seriously, this picture is beyond perfect! Please tell us where you were when you took it. So glad you're getting a well-deserved vacation (and someplace besides Turkey)!
ReplyDeleteEIFFEL TOWER!
ReplyDeleteEIFFEL TOWER!!
EIFFEL TOWER!!!
I soooo needed to see this today. Thx Eric!!
I'm distraught! Your fans will be DEMANDING, I mean, requesting their Paris fix every day!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your photos will provide us much to talk and pun about, as well as enlighten us.
Enjoy Down Under, lucky you!!! And Shell Sheree
bon voyage, bon courage et amuse toi bien. thank you for leaving us with this fabulous photo.
ReplyDeleteHey, Cali -- I think it's yours. I was in such a hurry that I obviously didn't read the whole post very carefully!
ReplyDeleteEric -- I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they do have wi-fi in the bush by now.
This is a great photo - I thought it was a black & white, until I saw the bush/tree! Bonne vacances, Eric!
ReplyDeleteEIFFEL TOWER!!!!
ReplyDelete(It deserved an additional call out.)
I am very jealous of your month off "down under." Kiss a kangaroo for me, would you? And thank you for not telling everyone that you took this photo from my bedroom window.
So do I, that's a really good shot! Well done, mate! ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL Alexa.
ReplyDeleteLOL ET Suzy, LOL Tomate, LOL...
ReplyDeleteI suspect this will be a working vacation for you Eric, but I hope you will have time to relax and enjoy. I cannot thank you enough for posting for us all these days when you are not in Paris. You have to prep that all ahead of time, I'm sure. We are spoiled by you - merci, ,merci!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful time in Suzy's room. ; } I'm sure that none of us will ever tell.
I forgot to say - this one is going on my slideshow - its beautiful. I love the exposure and all the detail you can see inside.
ReplyDeleteStunner of a photo Eric! Oh to have this view, as everyone else has said. But as much as I love the Eiffel Tower, I feel bad for the beautiful old column hiding in the dark in this photo. Enjoy every moment of your vacation! I do hope we get to see some of your photos from down under. You'll be bringing your camera, right??!!
ReplyDeleteIf this truly is a 100% vacation - congratulations on being able to score such a fantastic trip!! If its half as wonderful as my month in Paris was, you will come home a new man!
ReplyDeleteBut you can't leave! I'll be in Paris from the 14th to the 22nd of March!
ReplyDeleteI can't deny you a vacation though; I know you work quite hard. Have a good time. I'll be job hunting and site seeing. Every where I go I'll say, "Eric posted a photo of that on PDP."
Hope you can understand English with an Australian accent!
Have a wonderful month exploring new sites, returning refreshed and relaxed.
ReplyDeleteI do think that this is my favorite photo of the ET that you've posted! I'm not positive.....but I think it it. :)
Wow. A long way from home. Have a great vacation month!
ReplyDeleteAmazing capture Eric, this is a great shot. I cannot wait to visit Paris for the first time this summer.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Guy

Love this photo. Have made it my background photo. Enjoy Australia and New Zealand. I hope you see that New Zealand rain forest where the birds are almost tame. g'day mate.
ReplyDeleteNote to Lois Simon: I was in Cafe Bastille today and picked up your postcard "Souvenir de Paris." Very nice.
Quoique...
This picture is absolutely stunning. I can easily imagine your reaction when you saw it by the window. Is that a present to be forgiven for abandoning us?!
Don't want to be the bad messenger guys but it seems that Eric won't bring his camera to Australia!! I know, that's a shame...
Guille -- say it isn't so! BTW, I love it when you post in French et j'essaye de comprendre ce que tu a ecrit.
ReplyDelete(Pretty sure I got it)
Have a lovely trip, Eric. May you find delight on your travels!
ReplyDeleteSuzy - LOL
ReplyDeleteGuille - Eric not taking his camera downunder? Now that would be a shame - it's just that his photos won't be making their way to PDP
Eric, I hope you have a lovely time. I know you deserve it. Enjoy!
And Eric, your hopeful flying piggy yesterday was a brilliant find!
ReplyDeleteNow I want to see a French money box in the shape of a hen with big Dracula canines, that would be fun!
That's a real smartipants image. Ingenious shooting. Have a wonderful holiday, you lucky boy but who will crap the whip on the naughty St Trinian's girls when they get saucy with the comments in your abscene?
ReplyDeleteC'est peut-être la plus belle de tes photos, Eric. Je l'aime!
ReplyDeleteYou deserve your vacation. Have a wonderful time. Say hi to the Benauts, to Lucio and Shell Sheree!
We'll miss you but we'll try to hold on.
Merci pour le français, Guille. J'ai ma dictionnaire.
You certainly got that one right, Eric. Excellent in every way.
ReplyDeleteI just recently found your blog. I love getting your pictures of Paris daily. This one is a beauty. You are my window to the dream of being in Paris one day.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation, Eric.
Eric, first of all: MAKE A POSTER OF THIS PICTURE AT ZAZZLE. PLEASE.
ReplyDeleteSecond: have a great holiday and if you meet M.Benaut say hello for me!!!!!
Great photo. I love through-the-window photos, but do not get much of a chance to take them in Costa Rica because the sights are located int he great outdoors.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite photo that I have taken through a window in Paris is through the glass face of an exterior clock dial on the facade of the Musee d' Orsay (from a little coffee shop on the top floor of the museum) shooting across the river to the Louve.
Have a wonderful vacation in Australia. I was there last month and tested the internet connectivity for you. It works, even in the Outback.
And they have electricity and running water in Australia, too. They are almost as civilized as Parisians. :-)
Bon voyage. Lucky guy to be spending a month at the end of the summer down under. I hope your sunburn is not too severe. Aloe vera works wonders if it is.
ReplyDeleteThanks, as always, for giving us a "window" into Paris.
What will I do without my PDP?
ReplyDeleteYou will have to now start a new blog: (for a month anyway) called
ADP.
Enjoy your holiday Eric!
I think that Davy from Costa Rica said it all. We have electricity, running water, internet connectivity and we speak the Queen's English and Parisian French aussi!
ReplyDeleteWe have comfortable beds and wonderful food and I at least may post a photo of our beautiful Eric when he is down under. Can't wait to see you!!
Oops! I forgot to say that I adore the photo too. Wow!
ReplyDeleteChristophe
Whoaaahhhh...Superbe photo and a Big Bon Voyage Eric!!! You're a brave man...I don't think I could handle a month down under..especially if I lived in Paris!
ReplyDeleteWiFi in the Bush? Are you prepared for techno-shock Eric? Yes, a month away will make you a new man if you're expecting that!
ReplyDeleteA poster from Zazzle Monica? Not a bad idea!
Bonnes vacances!
Eric, mon ami, I hope your vacation is absolutely wonderful. Have a great time and DO NOT worry about us. We'll live, though we will miss you.
ReplyDelete(Hey, everyone, give the guy a break, f'chrissake!)
Love ya. A bientot.
Lucky lucky man too go to Australia!! I was there for a month in 2000 and LOVED the country, the people, the wine!! (I can still smell the koala I held that smelled like a coughdrop.)
ReplyDeleteI have great friends in Woolongong near Sydney if you want to visit with some great people!
Bon voyage!
I love these wayward peeks of the Eiffel!
ReplyDeleteI always wonder, you so seem to find so many beautiful things to capture all through your days!
Its a true art!
I think this is the most refreshing photo I've ever seen of the Eiffel Tower. Have a fabulous holiday!
ReplyDeleteBon voyage en Australie (je rêve d'y aller) et merci pour tes photos quotidiennes :)
ReplyDeleteMagnificent photo, Eric! I love it!
ReplyDeleteBonnes vacances! You definitely deserve this. :)
I love this photo too.
ReplyDeleteBon Voyage, Eric !
Just found your blog and am so glad I did. I love it. Thanks for sharing,
ReplyDeleteCheryl
Oh my gosh, what day is it? I think I blacked out ...
ReplyDeleteEric, you're going to be in Australia??? Bestill my beating heart. No, don't do that - I'll pass out again!
If Mme Benaut and the other 'Daily Photo' Australians can bear to part with you at all {unlikely} ... I'd be honoured to show you some sights, or hazard the dangers of attempting to kiss a kangaroo for you {in full body armour}.
You'll find wi-fi in plenty of city and bush areas, but I recommend making the most of it whenever you do have it. It gets better all the time but don't count on it if you're a long way between cities/towns.
Safe travels, Eric, and as TG alludes to, make sure you wear plenty of sunblock. The sunlight's ferocious here! Have a wonderful, relaxing holiday. And thank you for today's gorgeous photo, of course.
Love, love, love this photo!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday.
STUNNING photo! have a great time down under.
Eric, have a great holiday in Antipodeanland - a whole month! - I'm so jealous - I'm lucky to manage a even a few days at the moment.
ReplyDeleteBTW-I'll be in Paris for a long weekend shortly, so please leave the keys to your apartment under the doormat and a nice bottle of Champagne chilling in the fridge.
You ceretainly captured and 'Eye Full' through this window!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be in your luggage and see what you’ll see, breathe what you’ll breathe, meet who you’ll meet and so on!!
That's official … you made me cry so many times with all your beautiful words, thoughts and photos…
Today is one more, like a knife inside a wound.
I can see the Eiffel Tower each day though!
Again, it reminds me of a very nice lunch I had, with a tart choice ;) Not mine though but well seen yet!
Right every time.
Kind of strange, isnt’it.
I feel it like it’s just an illusion… I got it!
Might need some cool aid.
M. Drummond, same for me :)
Most of all, bonnes vacances, but you know I deeply wish it to you ;)
ReplyDeleteSqueals of glee, I absolutely ADORE the Eiffel Tower! Bon Voyage, Eric. And regarding your reading our comments from the bush, my mind had a momentary lapse of reason, giggles. I know, I'm naughty. But that's ok. Enjoy Eric and Thank YOU for the amazing photo
ReplyDeleteWOW again.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like that's the only thing I can think of when I see all your great pictures!
My mind goes blank.. just thinking of Paris and all the beauty over there.
Have a GREAT time Down Under!!
What a great shot. For a minute I thought this was from your apartment and I was about to be even more jealous.
ReplyDeleteEric I know you say you're not taking your camera but I cannot believe it. I hope you can keep up the daily photos for us, and rest assured, if it's difficult to do Paree ones whilst away, some shots of you on your travels will be fine! Lovely in fact...:) Bonnes vacances, cher Eric x prends soin de toi.
This photo is just perfect! I love it.
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic vacation, I'm jealous!
This picture feels like "homesick".
ReplyDeleteIt is perfect for the moment!
Have nice holidays

Amazing pic... my favorite always Eiffel.... magnificent!!! looks like post card... looks like a good bye... looks like when I my vacations end and I left Paris... sadly...
Besous... Please be safe...
Laury, we've hidden a boomerang in Eric's suitcase to make sure he comes back!
ReplyDeleteWait a moment though - What if the suitcase comes back but Eric doesn't?
ReplyDeleteBack to the drawing board.
Bojour Eric!
ReplyDeleteKudos on a fab pic of the tower, that does does look like many others!
I don't know about wifi in the outback, but I will tell you how it was done before wifi existed and even before browsers existed, but email and forums did.
You would climb a telephone pole far out in wilds of the outback and, using two aligator clips, snap onto the telepone wires and then log onto compuserve. (remember them?)
Everyone who did, would sign there name with a short description of location and weather, and I continue that tradition to this day.
Steverino, in dreary rainy Chicago
Sorry, I made a typo! Of course I meant does NOT look like many other shots of the tower.
ReplyDeleteSteverino
I think there is little chance that M. PARIS Daily Photo will not return to le ville de St. Genevieve.
ReplyDeleteIf you had the option, where would you prefer to live?
Moi? You have trois guesses...
Ok Drummond here's the plan. Someone has to get that boomerang well and truly fixed down his trousers. Erm....I'm available? ...
ReplyDeleteEric, enjoy your holidays, you deserve them!
ReplyDeleteAnd if ever you meet my son -- who's trekking somewhere around Ayers Rock --, please make sure he doesn't miss his flight back ;-)
Jeff: Paris, Paris or Paris?
Number 69 I am. I'm sure none of the others have mentioned what a grand photo of la tour this is. I love it too Eric. I'd try and worm my way into that building if I thought I could get one half as good. Have a great trip. Look forward to seeing some of your photos from down under.
ReplyDeleteV
Eric, so you're going boxing with the kangaroos, eh? Here's a little trip down memory lane for you. Safe travels mate!
ReplyDeleteSue Charlton: "Mick, give him your wallet."
Mick "Crocodile" Dundee: "What for?"
Sue: "He's got a knife."
Mick: [chuckling] "That's not a knife." [draws a large Bowie knife]
Mick: "That's a knife." [mugger runs away]
Mick: "Just kids having fun. You all right?"
Ah, the Eifel - my first love! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful and breathtaking!!! My heart still skips a beat every time I see it!
Hoping you have a wonderful time in Australia and New Zealand. I work with many Aussies in London and they are the best! Great, funny, friendly and warm people to be around! Bon voyage!

ReplyDeleteComing to my country, WOOHOO! Do tell where you will be, maybe I can recommend some places?
ReplyDeleteLynn, you cheeky devil.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I shouldn't say "cheeky" under the circumstances.
WHAT A GORGEOUS PICTURE!!!!! Yes, I know I'm yelling, but I have to. It is beautiful! I think my favorite picture ever.
ReplyDeleteEric, have the BEST vacation ever. Enjoy and if you're in Sydney, you'll have to think about doing something on my Life List--walking the top of the bridge in Sydney Harbor, especially the sunset climb.

ReplyDeleteBonne Vacance, Eric!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture - have a great holiday !
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love this picture. It's beautiful. I wish I had the skill to create things of this caliber. Alas I am stuck with my digital camera :) But your talent inspires me to try to do something slightly creative with myself
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. One of my favorite pictures on this blog.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your visit here to Aus. Take heaps of photos for us all. If you are able to visit Mount Isa let us know, it would be great to meet up. Your PDP was my inspiration for starting my own blog to share photos. Thanks.

Another amazingly beautiful shot, Eric. As usual. If I could buy all the shots of yours I absolutely love, my entire house would be filled with them. This is a fabulous photo, really. The frame is perfect.
