Here they come!
Remember? In August 2008, I told you I heard from the grapevine that the clothing brand Abercrombie & Fitch would possibly move in on the Champs Elysées at number 23... Well, I passed by it today and I now have the confirmation! Not that it probably matters to you - nor to me actually, as I am way over the age limit for that kind of stores (I don't like shopping in the dark with music so loud that I can't even talk to a shop "assistant"! - check this if you want a good laugh), but I thought I would show you a bit of the blue sky we're having in Paris at the moment ;-) BTW I just checked, the grand opening is scheduled for May 19th (I doubt they'll invite me after this post ;-))

I dig the blue sky. As for the other...well, let's say I'm still looking at the blue sky. Don't think you'll hear much jazz in number 23 anyway.
ReplyDeleteLol Eric! But isn't A&F passé by now anyway? You're just already on to the newer trend I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteSo odd, because A & F used to be a stodgy old store for older men. Somehow it turned itself into a store for 20-something boys.
ReplyDeleteBut I do like your blue sky. We have rain and expect snow flurries on the weekend. Drat!
I plug my ears when passing A&F, but I sure do take a peek at the larger-than-life male model posters which adorn the entrances.
ReplyDeleteThe Champs will now be infested with excessive odors of adolescent perfume and cologne! That and over-priced preppy-wear! I wonder if they'll exercise employee discrimination as they do in the States too :)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of "DRAT"! My favourite gifts to pack and squirrel in from the States when I shuttle back and forth will no longer be a novelty in Paris! I knew it was only a matter of time when they opened a store in London last year! Oh well...we will wait for the next fad! The only thing I buy on the Champs Élysées is my Nespresso refills at the Boutique there...and NO I have never seen George Clooney there dodging falling pianos! Thank you for the heads up and the Blue Skies, Eric!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised it took so long to get there! The kids are all into Hollister now, everyone wears Hollister lol...the marketing on Hollister cracks me up though as Hollister, CA (the real town) is not even a coastal town!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your blue skies!! We have thunderstorms possibly today, but at least it will be super warm, but then that is the perfect recipe for tornado warnings....ahhh spring!!
Or they'll invite you as a VIP, just to convince you that you were wrong ;-)
ReplyDeleteHow could anyone not invite Eric?? I'm not into labels for clothing and such, but I do LOVE the blue skies you have and am quite envious, as at the moment, we are getting snowed upon once again. I was hoping that it was done, but alas, it was not. Enjoy your spring and sunshine!
ReplyDelete@ET Suzy...thanks! ;-)
ReplyDeleteheehee
Our teenage guest's (we have hosted a number of exchange students)FIRST stop in NYC is always Abercrombie's and often the line is down the block (they only let a certain number of people in the store at a time!) While we are always thinking "Statue of Liberty" "Empire State Building" "Central Park", they are always thinking "Abercrombie!" Hehe
ReplyDeleteRegards, Nancy L.
Clearly a generation thing apparently...
ReplyDeleteBTW, where is Petrea? It's an important day for her today ;-)
May I share this with PDP? My plans with our Eric got mixed up yesterday, so as I was walking on rue Montaigne I saw Jean Paul Belmondo! He was going into the theater on that street. I was Breathless!
ReplyDeleteOoh la la, Phx!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Abercrombie's the place you used to go to get outfitted for going on safari? I never did shop there, but about those blue skies: that's just exactly what I wanted to see!
@HX. Belmondo Wow! Did he look OK? I know he's been sick these past years.
ReplyDeleteWas Belmondo wearing a wool hat and scarf and unbuttoned shirt?
ReplyDeleteAnd, Thib, if you see Monsieur PDP wearing those, with khakis drooping below the waist of his boxers, you'll know he was invited after all. Touch football...?
We do NOT have blue skies. Snowed last night and it's cold. Blech.
Oh, one more thing.
ReplyDeleteRest In Peace Liz Taylor. What a star, what an actress. Both she and Joan Collins were gorgeous, (did not need...artificial help, if you know what I mean) and were brilliant artists on the screen. Not many such talents around.
Happy, happy very important day, Petrea!!!
