I've been willing to go to the musée de la poupée (doll museum) for a long time - not that I'm particularly into dolls, but because I was curious to see what's in it. I took advantage of the free entrance special (every second Friday of the month between 10 and 12 am) to check it out. Of course it's more appropriate for kids, but adults may also find food for thoughts there. At this very moment especially, they have a "dolls of the world" special exhibit and it's very interesting to see how these toys actually teach the kids what they should look like when they grow up! For once I've posted two photos : one main one and a few of the other ones I've taken.

Looks like an interesting place to visit. Were you humming It's A Small World while there? :)
ReplyDeleteI'll bet it's quite a place. Does Paris have a museum for everything? I've heard London does.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a very interesting exhibit. And I like your "combo photo" mashup. :) If you weren't humming "It's a Small World", were you perhaps humming "We are the World"? Or maybe both? :-)
ReplyDelete... livin' for nearly a year by now in the 3ième and still sth to discover :) Thx fot the tip
ReplyDeleteI like the "combo photo" also. I hope you had some assistance from an app. And I am allergic to "It's a small, small world". The year Disney in Orlando opened (I won't say what year that was), I got on that ride not knowing want it was. I could have tolerated it for the normal ten minutes, but the thing broke down. I had to listen to that tune non-stop for an hour. I have not been the same since.
ReplyDeleteLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL !
DeleteLol Stuart.
ReplyDeleteLOL Stuart! Of course you forgot to mention that you were a mere child at the time, no?
ReplyDeleteVery interesting, but some dolls can seem a bit creepy at times. Probably not added to my 'to do' list. :-(
ReplyDeleteNah, I don't think you'd like that Drummond!
DeleteDisneyland was born the same year I was, and I, too, have a strong aversion to "It's a Small World." There must be a connection.
ReplyDeleteYou mean Disneyland was born only 25 years ago?!
DeleteKisses to you, mon chere.
Delete" it's very interesting to see how these toys actually teach the kids what they should look like when they grow up!"
ReplyDeleteSo, mon ami, which look are you striving for when you grow up? And do you have recommended look for me based on these models? (Don't say the one with the long pink legs.)
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!
DeleteOh, great—now I'm humming "It's a Small World." I'll bet this place (or at least the current exhibit) is fascinating. One of the things I rescued from my Mom's Hurricane Sandy–ravaged house was a box filled with my childhood dolls.
ReplyDeleteReally? In what condition?! Are they all moldy now?!
