Eric this is a good idea but nothing compares to the feeling (and view) you get when you actually climb to the top of the Arch.

The only thing I would NOT miss is all that stairs inside it....!

Merci!! Wonderful! We stayed at the Hotel California on the Rue de Berri just off Champs-Elysees in 2005 and took this walk many times - it brought back a lot of happy memories of my first trip to Paris. I hope to return soon!

This site is fun. I don't know if it's better than Google Maps, I'll do some experimenting over time.

I wonder if there are any of the old street name plates remaining on the Champs. I love that Paris uses the newer printed plates have the same appearance as the old ones. It' really fun to see the older ones.

I was talking with my mother as we sat next to the Mississippi River on Sunday. I remembered the epiphany that the sky and the light in Paris must have been a major reason for so many painters to locate there, in addition to the customer base of course.

Virtual walks in Paris are great in between trips, but I prefer to walk the streets myself.
Try "Les photos de villes" too, I often "walk" there ;-)

Maria - Unless I missed something on the site, I wouldn't look for the Tour de France here - these shots have already been filmed - you can see if you go back and forth that the people don't move.

I'd like to see some of the Tour myself but I'm not sure what the best sites are to catch it. Anyone watching it?
