Which reminds me of the often hated fruitcake. (Yes, it makes sense that I'd talk about fruitcake, and all the other clever jokes.) I think it's true that most people don't like the suspicious flavor of citron and so they don't like fruitcake. Fruitcake originally was a way to preserve fruit for the winter.
