So funny...I remember in Boston we used to drop it out the window also...and in one apartment I lived at in San Francisco we did it also. I remember in SF it used to land right side up on the base but all the needles would be on the sidewalk...LOL!!!

Actually I had a family reunion with little nieces last Sunday so that I kept the tree and told them father Christmas had passed by my house too ;-) The story sounded more realistic with a proper tree!!

In olden days in Edinburgh they used to shout "Gardyloo!" as a warning when they emptied the contents of their chamber pots out of the window onto the street. Gardyloo comes from the French 'Gardez l'eau' or 'Garde de l'eau'

LOL I can't imagine throwing the tree out the window! Of course, that would have alleviated the necessity of vacuuming up all the needles that I dropped on the way to the garage as well as the carpet shampooing that had to be done because of the dirty water that dripped as well! Oh well, there is always next year. :) Have a great day!

By the way you are very late getting rid of the tree. In the UK it is bad luck to leave it up after 12th night i.e. 6 Jan. We all get the willies if we forget after midnight on that day! Well, not literally, you understand... ;D

Ohhh it's a sad sight, the forlorn tree after Christmas, its pretty lights and sparkle banished to the cupboard for another year...
Throwing these from a height alarms me! Everyone must walk along the street looking up in fright lol. We'd never get away with it in the UK. Too much Health & Safety.
