Shadows in the wine district

Of course there is not much to see of Paris on this photo but I like it. I took it last Sunday while I was having a walk in Bercy Village, in the eastern part of Paris (the 12th arrondissement). Bercy Village is a rather "new" shopping mall, open air, located in the old wine district. They kept a lot of the old installations, including the railways (that you can see on the photo) that were used to take the wine from the storage area to the delivery boats on the river Seine or to the trucks. And if you go there - I highly recommend it - make sure you don't miss the gardens... More information here (click on "Welcome" for the English version).

  1. You're right, Eric, the place is interesting. But don't go in the restaurants here : bad food, "typically french" service (rudeness and so on...), high prices... Just a place for a walk...

  2. Thanks, Eric. Another area of Paris I will not fail to visit next year! Great picture, by the way. Is that your shadow in the middle?

  4. Just came by for my daily Paris fix ... I can't wait to visit this area. I used to live at Porte Dorée, near Bois de Vincennes, for a few years when I was a kid. That area doesn't seem to have changed a whole lot but the entire renovated area behind Gare de Lyon (still 12th Arrt.?) is a complete mistery to me. Must go check it out!

    Thanks Eric!

  10. Eric, you left out the great flowers, fountains, children's soup garden, and vineyard in your post. I hope you'll post more photos of this place. It's really unique.
