  1. Oh dear Eric, to be faced with such a picture on the holidays. You're right - straight back to normal.

  3. As I wake up completely stuffed from the big meal the night before, this may be what I needed to see. Not the prettiest pictures of Paris, but an honest one. Thanks Eric.

  4. My thoughts on this photo: we lead ourselves to believe that we, the Lucky Few, who read this blog and love Paris, are special. well then, I propose that each of us actually DO something in regards to this photo...in our own quiet ways, why don't we all just choose this year to get directly involved in helping the poor & needy in our community. I'll do it. And Happy New Year to everyone!

  6. Nicely done with the jogger in red rushing by, against the somber face. Very sobering.

  7. Eric, the composition of this shot is wonderful. The photo says it all, even without your comments. This, I think, is the mark of a great photo. I notice the reclining person in the forground is wrapped in an "Ikea" fleece throw blanket, and that even the pigeon has its feathers fluffed out for the cold. The contrast of the high-tech expensive running suit and the mish-mash of decidedly unstylish things keeping the folks on the ground warm is a snapshot of the first and third worlds coexisting in selective blindness. Thanks for the reminder that it doesn't have to be so if we keep our eyes open as if Christmas goes on all year.
