Bobbies at Le Printemps Department Store

This year Le Printemps - a large department store - has decided to "invite the London Fashion scene for an eccentric Christmas..." And to prove it yesterday, you could find two Bobbies (London policemen) walking on stilts in the middle of a very intrigued Christmas shopping crowd by the store. I was there, with my camera; thought it was perfect for a Sunday photo.

  1. Hello!

I'm so glad to see your blog. My wife and I went to Paris a few years ago and then exchanged rings on the Seine looking up at Notre Dame. It was so romantic. Viva la Paris!

  3. hi, I'm glad to come here. I love Paris very much so that I hope someday I can go to Paris. Just take a walk around the street in Paris and do nothing at all. With your picture, I can taste the smell of Paris which attracts me so much. Thank you so much. I love it.

  5. This new development must strike fear into the hearts of all criminals. It will be the end of all those silly chases where the criminal gets away.... Police with turbo charged legs, 0-60 in 5 seconds, max speed 80 miles an hour. Consumption? 3 donuts per mile - runs on unleaded pink icing.

  7. I was in Paris in May 2004 and 2005. I love your photos, but I don't check often enough. Looking at your November 17 photo of the Rodin sculpture, I recognized it. We have one from the same mold at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Here is the link: http://www.artsmia.org/collection/search/art.cfm?id=1239

Merci for your photos. They help me remember. Au revoir...or, a bientot.

  8. Bobbies in Paris! Whatever next! That makes me think of another strange sight I saw in Paris the other day... some mad French person, no doubt, had hijacked one of our national symbols, transplanted it to the banks of the Seine and adulterated it - can you believe it? Londoners will be particularly offended! Well spotted Eric! We must be vigilant, after all!

  11. I think she is actually flashing an "I love you" sign--if the thumb was down, it would be the devil symbol.

I always laugh at the guy who is trying to be soooo cool and tough and rebellious at a rock concert, without realizing he is actually telling Überdeathkillcult that he loves them.

But, since she has her hand pointed at herself, I think she is just displaying her healthy sense of self-love. Of course, I don't think I would do that on stilts, but to each her own.

    >Antonella, no sorry I don't have a cat, but thank you for the offer...

    >Jeff, thak you for sharing this link. Actually I spent some time wondering if it's the exact replica or not? Could not make up my mind. If you want a reminder to come and visit PDP more often just subscribe to the PDP mailing-list; it will be soon be up and running.

    > Sab and Ham. Everyone knows you're Britts now!

    > Mrs B. & Will. I think it was just a coincidence. She was not making any particular cool sign...
