The Champs Elysees port

Very few Parisians know that Champs Elysées is not only a famous avenue but also a port on the Seine. This port is located by the Place de la Concorde (on both sides of the Pont de la Concorde, on the right bank) and needless to say that very few people can afford to live in this prestigious area. Those who are lucky enough to have a boat there (or more likely a "péniche" - a flat boat specially conceived to carry goods on the river) can enjoy this view, all year long...

  3. Apparantly you are one of the few Parisians who are in the know. =) I like the visual arrangement of the foto. Very nice.

  4. Oh, that's a good one! And my buddy is standing tall and proud in the back behind .. (Isn't that the Pont de l'Alma, all shiny and cleaned up?)

  5. Siiiiiiiiiiigh~~~

Eric...With every picture you post I miss Paris THAT MUCH MORE! WAAAAAAAAAAAAH! It's such a PERFECT city to photograph...beauty around every corner...

I'm shrinking here in the boredom of Santa Clara a little bit everyday...pretty soon I'll be able to post "Alice In Wonderland" type shots from between the blades of grass!!! LOL!

    Bonsoir mon Ami!
    ;-)

  6. Oh wow! I am green with envy. Eric, there are a lot of animals on my blog because there's only them and the trees to photograph around here.

Ame,I actually found myself photographing grass leaves today - yes, I'm already down the rabbit hole.

  7. Another great photo of Paris, inspiring envy around the world - we American country bumpkins have to content ourselves with other pleasures than art, beauty, food, and that special something that only Paris has!

  8. J'ai une bonne idee!

Why don't 50 of us or so put our money together and buy a place by the Place de la Concorde? Then we can all time-share and enjoy the beautiful view all year long.....!!!!

Okay, so it's a LITTLE unrealistic....but I would do anything for this view!

For now, I will content myself with looking at this view from my laptop computer in the library on my university campus.... :-( Merci encore, Eric!

  10. Once again another very interesting piece of information. Bees in Luxembourg, and boats on the Champs Elysées, I did know about the bees though!

I absolutely love the wealth of information that you have on your site Eric along with some visually superb images.

  11. > Tomate farcie : Pont de l'Alma ? Nice try, but it's Pont Alexandre III (well in fact, you might see the Pont de l'Alma in the back-background).
    ;o)
    GG - rare-but-nasty-as-ever !!!

  12. And I thought we'd never get to see La Tour!

ps, Eric, did you get my message?

  13. once again, there's something about Paris not in the travel book...very nice photo and information!

  14. Great perspective! What was that little sculpture on the foreground on?

  15. Nasty GG: Dang! Yeah, that makes sense... I couldn't never get my bridges straight even when I lived in Paris (except for the Pont Neuf, of course). But I kind of vaguely remember that Eiffel Tower and Pont de l'Alma are not too far or you can see the Eiffel Tower from there, or something... well thanks for straightening that for us! :-D

  17. I am counting the days until I land at CDG for another ten-day visit (22 and counting...). This is a great photo. I'll remember to have a bottle of wine and sandwich from this spot, and think of you. Hey! Anyone else going to be there? Let's meet for un verre le vin. I'll buy. That goes for you, Eric, I'd love to reward you for your photos.

  18. I love the photo and will be sure to search out that spot when in Paris.

  19. Thank you for your "sublime" blog.
I didn't know Paris that well, it is a real pleasure to re-discover my capital everyday a little bit more

  20. Bonsoir,

    Didier

  21. Thanks Didier, I'll have a look!

Jeff: Good idea! Does anybody want to do a blogger's meeting in June in Paris? :-D

  22. > MoonSoleil, Liz & Mike, Sam, Aloha Pineapple, Lissa. Thanks. I am surprised myself actually, I love this view!

    > Natalie. I knew about this port but not about this fantastic view.

    > Tomate. I thought of you actually when I saw the iron lady in the shutter!

    > Ame. LOL Don't worry, you'll come back one day! Besides, keep in mind that a lot of people would kill to live in Santa Clara!

    > Blondetown. LOL (on the animals and trees)

    > Jenny. Come on! You have Paris Hilton... That is art, beauty and food (for non thoughts!) all at once, what do you complain about?!

    > Nahal. Yes, just a little! But thanks for thanking me anyway.

    > Mark. Ditto with my thanks!

    > Wilf. Wahoo. Big blush!

    > Nasty GG. Sooooooooo nasty. And that's the way we like you...

    > Buzzgril. Message?! No I did not get anything. You sent it to eric (at) parisdailyphoto.com ?

    > Lisi. Like I said before I am actually surprised myself about this view. If you come to Paris, it's easy to find : right by the Concorde bridge on the right bank.

    > Elisabeth. It's a weathercock (une girouette) that was on the back of a boat. Really cool.

    > Tomate.

    > Sandrine. Suis 100% d'accord.

    > Jeff S. Thank you. Which date will that be then?! But why not (except that I do not drink wine - don't have a heart attack, it's true!)

    > Carol, Yes, it's really worth it.

    > Anonymous. Sublime, wahoo. Thanks. Merci.

    > Transall.

    > Tomate. Actually... You know what?! I am told that Nicola (from WiesbadenDailyPhoto) and Sam (from MauchauvetDialyPhoto) will be in Paris beginning of June.

I said I would try to gather as many DP friends as possible. So, here you are. If you're in the neighbourhood anybody let me know. The date should be June 6 (it's a Tuesday).

  23. I know I'm late here, but isn't that where Duncan McLeod lived while he was in Paris in Highlander: The Series?

  25. Soosha: I don't know why, but my money is on the neighborhood around Ile de la Cité. I mean, that's probably where I would tie up my barge if I were a vampire living in Paris 500+ years ago! :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. He's not a vampire! He's an immortal. True, vampires are immortal, but it's a different kind!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Oh, an immortal... my mistake!! :) Well, with a little luck, someone will come by with an answer for ya! Hey, I like your new picture, by the way :)

  28. Bonsoir à tous,

    >> Eric :

    Didier
