Spring at Le Trocadéro

If you come to Paris you will undoubtedly end up visiting the Esplanade du Trocadero from where you have the best view of the Eiffel Tower. But what I like the most on this square are the 8 golden statues located on each side. I chose to show you this one in particular, called Le Printemps (spring) by Paul Niclausse. Really fantastic.

  3. If one is spring and they are eight what are the other 4?

  4. Very little information on this artist other that he was professor at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts.

  5. She looks like she's coming out of the pool, trying to get water out of hair and holding a towel in the other hand... Maybe she went to take a bath down in the fountains when nobody was looking ...

  6. Luggi...I did find this on the web:

"Paul Niclausse (born in Metz/France, 1879-1958) was pupil to Ponscarme and Thomas. From 1896 he exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Francais. Niclausse received a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelle 1900 and a gold medal in 1921, this was followed by the receipt of the Legion of Honor. He became professor at the Ecole des Art décoratifs and at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris."

  9. When one sees "spring" already nacked, one wonders how "summer" can be "dressed"!

  10. Thanks buzzgirl...not sure how much I'll be able to contribute for a while, but I'm here and there. Back to Florida on Friday so it will be a while.

  14. I like her hair. It seems to me that good hair would be hard to do.

  15. Okay, "Spring" is nice (and of course your photo is magnificent), but Pryas' "Le Matin" is better. None of that coy, girlie, playing-with-the-hair stuff. Le Matin stands there with a healthy straight forward presence. See her here:

  16. Once again Eric an excellent image from one of my favorites places in Paris.

I have just finished publishing the project I did several years ago on my other daily blog. The end photograph can be seen here.

    Behind the Eiffel Tower

or a little slide show can be seen on flickr A Tourist in Paris

And once again Eric I hope you don’t mind me blowing my own trumpet – as it were!!

Also hello to Michael and hope all goes well with your trip.

  19. I'm glad you did this. When I was there the esplanade was being renovated or cleaned or purposely hidden from me:)

I've never seen them before and it's a nice reminder of when I used to sit in the grass, eat a lemon tart, sip wine and wait for the Tower lights to be illuminated.

  20. so, are all the renovation boards down now? I really must get out of my quartier...
