More orange and grey mix

Sometimes the most basic things can have a tremendous effect on a photo (well, so I think!) I took this shot yesterday on my way back from work. I noticed these cones, that are used to temporarily prevent cars from parking on the sidewalk, were well aligned and offered a nice perspective and contrast. The guy who had just installed them was really puzzled that someone stopped just to take a photo of his "artistic performance".

  2. I always thought the French were meant to be stylish. This is clear, as even the traffic cones are quite well designed.

  3. Super control of depth of field too. It wouldn't have been nearly such an effective shot if any part of the cones had been out of focus.

  4. Why are all the cones called "Robin"?

  5. I agree, they make a damn good picture! And from this perspective, they look enormous, SUV type of cones! Are they made in USA? ;)

  6. Ooooh! I like this one way more than yesterdays picture! The image of a big burly guy in an orange reflective vest scratching his head wondering what the hell you're doing taking a picture of traffic cones is cracking me up!

  7. Cool shot Eric. I have never seen (or noticed) that cones in France have ropes running through them like this. Is this so people don't steal them and stick them in their homes as art installations?

By thw way, count me in on the PDP night out.

  8. Eric, j'aime beaucoup votre photos! We are about to make our first trip to Paris (an adventure for which I've longed nearly my entire life). Your photos give me an artist's view of the city and just a hint of all the wonderful things I'll see next week. When we return, each email from you will bring our experience back to us.

    Merci, merci, merci!

  9. I love the two color theme you have going here as well as yesterday.

I can't help but wonder who "Robin" is???
    ;)

  10. Re my question yesterday, according to Wellington Daily Photo, the theme for today is "parking". Who knew!

  11. Robin must have had a lot of time on her/his hands to write on all of the cones like that. =)

  12. Each cone would be a great Eiffel Tower souvenir!

  13. Haxo, I was just thinking the same thing! I don't know if that cone will fit in my suit case, though, and I'm not sure if it'll make it through customs out of CDG! ;)

By the way, is it raining in Paris, right now?!!! Shoot, I might have to pack some winter gear!

  14. Eric, I find myself taking photos with that similar alignment as well... fence pickets (I remember yours from the Louvre, I have the exact same photo), trees, poles, even the irises when I visited Giverny a few years back. I guess I like that there's movement of the line moving forward without a lot of chaos. hmmmm... pyschology anyone?
