Last lunch outside?

It's getting colder and colder in Paris and the leaves are turning yellow... Feels like Fall is on its way. Fortunately there was enough sun today for me to have lunch outside at Tsé, a cool Chinese restaurant on rue d'Auteuil. It's located in a former train station belonging to a line that that used to run around Paris and that I photographed a long long time ago.

  2. I like this photo. Very beautiful contrast of colors-the forefront of white and splashes of red with the green background is quite lovely.

  3. Profites-en tant qu'il est encore temps! C'est presque buccolique si ce n'est les quelques Smart and Twingo parquées à l'arrière-plan. Bon appétit!

  4. Ah, Eric, this photo transports one easily to a beautiful city. I hope the weather stays warm a little longer for you...BTW, I am constantly amazed at how you all park those cars so damned close to each other. Were you on Vespa, Velib, or on foot today? :-)

  5. Thanks for this. We're facing the last lunch outside here on the west coast of Canada as well, enjoying each outdoor meal and wondering if there'll be a few more before we move inside for shelter. Rather nice to think of you Parisians doing the same thing.

  6. In Phoenix we are almost, after 5 months, ready to be able to go OUTSIDE and eat. It went down to 95 today.

  7. Interesting to note that it is liked best by the over 45's ;-)

  11. I luv that tiny little car in the background! (second from the left)

I wish they had those here in the USA, instead of the behemoth SUV tanks that everyone seems to want to drive.

But at least things are changing slowly... towards smaller cars.

  12. What can I say about this photo? I am here but my mind is there...!

Eric it´s the opposite here. Pretty soon it will be so hot we won´t be able to eat outside, only indoors with a nice air-condition to cool us!

  13. Betcha never saw 4 seasons and a yellow leaf till you moved to Paris,Mr. Hollywood, FL. ( I feel so nasty since I dropped that piece of cheese).

Ahh, the magnificence of Paris in the fall.Would you do a defining picture of that, one day, Eric?

  16. Anonyme: It's a SMART and they will be available in the US in 2008. Check out their website

    http://www.smartusa.com/

or do a search for SMART cars.

Getting cooler in SF too and as of 2 days ago I have returned my windbreaker in my backpack. Used it last night on my way home for the first time in weeks.

  17. Nasty phx-cdg - you are so right. Before moving away, the only season I knew came as a salad dressing! In Hollywood, FL we have 1 season (except for that one day it dropped below 70 degrees). However, what I really like here is the seasonal food! I never knew that things such as melons and celery only came one time of year in other parts of the world. So Nasty phx-cdg tell me, how is the water temperature at the beach there? Hmmmmm....

  18. Autumn is here in Minneapolis, one of the two best times of the year. Global warming has been here all summer, so our nice autumn weather is a little late: it was almost 90 degrees F on Monday. I need a nice dinner outside at a sidewalk cafe. Maybe this weekend. But, I need to save money for the trip to Paris next year...May, right everyone? Oh, two deer just ran past my office window--I work in an outer suburb, not very Parisian!

  19. Merci for holding that table for us Eric!!! Nice spot! So, fall will come, but there is a romance in the autumn that is so different from the other seasons. Je l'adore! But I don't think it is time to sail down the Seine singing the "Autumn Leaves" yet??? Is it??

I remember a very warm 17 septembre in Paris once...I was perspiring it was so hot; then I got home to the 12eme and when I exited Reuilly Diderot it was so breezy and cool...I can still feel the breeze!! Now back to the Menu...what shall we have??? LOL!

  20. I was on my scooter Coltrane. I gave up driving a car in Paris a long time ago...

Materfamilias. Funny we currently have the same kind of weather. Later in the winter, though, I'm afraid you're going to be slightly colder than us!!

LOL PHX. 95! No temperature to sit outside, for sure!

Anonyme. I think they are going to introduce Smart cars in the US soon.

PHX "Ahh, the magnificence of Paris in the fall.Would you do a defining picture of that, one day, Eric?". I sure will!

    Keropok. Er... Prawns.

Here you go Tomate. Thanks for the info the tiny Smart car ;)

Jeff "two deers just ran past my office window". I cannot compete!

Well tonton, actually very often September in Paris is pretty warm and nice. But I cannot believe it was cooler in the 12th than in the center (as I presume that is where you were!)

  21. Our outdoor dining days are numbered here in Portland, too. Alas, but I feel the memories shall sustain us until next season.

  22. And what looks like my smart car in the background!! What is it doing there without me??

  23. Very possibly the last warm day. Autumn is setting in. We're on our way to the wintry season. Let's see what our cameras can tell us!

  24. Bonjoue Eric,

You are extremely lucky to live in a country with four seasons. There shouldn't be any reason why you're lamenting on the last day of Summer...haha! You should be looking forward to the beauty and coolness of Winter!

I come from Singapore and there are also four seasons here: Summer, Summer, Summer and Summer.

The average temperature in the day is 33C and in the night, 26C. Only in the month of December do we experience slightly cooler days between 23C to 28C. Still, it's considered hot and humid!
