Green green

Have you ever dreamed of looking under the skirt of the Eiffel Tower? Well here you go! The green color is not usual, it's only temporary because of the current rugby cup (remember this photo?). A good occasion to say thank you to dear old Gustave... And to think that originally the tower was meant to be taken down after the 19001889 world exhibit!

  5. I have a poster like this, looking up under the Eiffel Tower. I like it a lot, because it's not obviously the Eiffel Tower.... that is, until you look closer. My living room in my house is Eiffel Tower central. I have that print, lamps, and a small clock. Eventually if I have my own classroom, I will have all manner of lovely pictures of all things France. Someday.... :)

And recently,I bought from the guy in front of the Crillon Hotel,50 eiffel tower key chains to turn into ring holders.(I sell jewelry on the side and use it for display.)

  11. I can't wait to be in Paris in November to make some nice pics of the "Grande Dame". I lived in Paris for 5 years and love your photos about that beautiful city, a lot of them remind me of my time there, spending hours walking through the different neighbourhoods. You have a new fan!!

  12. Good - you've managed to pull off what I always strive for - a new glitter on an old emerald - Allez les Bleus this weekend, but it sure ain't gonna be easy!!!

  13. You have surely hit the jackpot with this shot, Eric.
NOBODY ever tires of the Tour Eiffel.

  15. LOVE the green "skirt", Eric. Une autre maniere de voir la "Grande Dame de Fer"!

Suzy P Sweetie, would you mind doing another back flip for me, and giving Eric a kiss on the other cheek for good luck this weekend? My spirit is willing, but my body has serious issues spending the weekend in a leg cast and traction!!! Everyone else, I wish you, in a less acrobatic manner, a lovely weekend. A la prochaine!

  17. Pont Girl and PHXCDG I have yummy memories from the tower too, but I´ve been to the other restaurant, Altitude 95...!

  18. As others say above, we never tire of new (and old)views of Tour Eiffel. Very pretty. How many dozens of photos do we all have with different lighting, the moon below the tower, and other memories? They're never stale, and we all want more.

(Note that the Exposition Universalle opened in 1889.)

  20. Wow, you have people doing back flips and giving you smooches!

But didn't anyone ever tell you it's not polite to look up a lady's skirt? Or maybe she's not such a lady after all. =)

  21. Phx-cdg - I looove your idea of using an Eiffel Tower figurine as a ring holder!!! I only have about 20 at home that I am going to start doing that with!! Thanks for the idea!

Hi Monica! How did you like Altitude 95? I've never been there. Jules Verne is incredible - such an amazing night!

  22. everything is going green - even the symbol of paris!

  23. Pont Girl I enjoyed Altitude 95 a lot, not as much for the food - although their Kir Royal was delicious! - but for the whole experience. I was, after all, having dinner at the Eiffel Tower overlooking Paris, so that was enough of a thrill for a girl like me!

    (isn´t PHXCDG´s ideas just fabulous?!)

  24. I remember the first time I saw La Tour Eiffel...I walked under it like this photo..and put my head back...and looked up!!! Then fell over backwards!! LOL!!! I'll never forget that one, and I bet there are many others who have done the same thing. Of course I'll never tell you how old I was...LOL!

I always visit La Tour Eiffel, but the last time I went up the tower was in 2005[It had been 15 years since my previous ascent]and after being pushed by the mobs in the elevator I told my friends it will be another 15 years before I go up. So I guess I have to wait until 2020??? I'm sure I'll go before that...who can resist??? ;-)

  25. A grand eyeful of the Eiffel.

"Hey mister elevator operator. It looks really crowded. Are there too many people for me to get on?"

    "Aye, full."
