Democratie en France

Over the past few days I noticed that Paris was covered in these little posters and I really wondered what they were all about. Only today did I find out that they're intended to promote a film called "Démocratie en France" made by four American directors who wanted to picture the French democracy during the last elections. To be honest, I just saw the trailer, and I'm not really thrilled. Maybe, because I already saw thousands of after elections analysis and I don't need to see another one...

  1. The post election reality is strikes and riots in Paris. Plus ca change. . .

  2. I wonder why, if these are four American filmmakers, the subtitles use English spelling?

  3. High post production values? Is the difference between grey and gray or colour and color an issue or a conspiracy?

  4. Politics, elections, I am not looking forward to our next presidential election. It already looks to be ripe with farce potential.
    Thanks Eric,

  5. However it's clever advertising you must admit. I also like that you took this one in front of the Assemblee Nationale.

    Tu m'étonnes !…
I guess there are a few other matters about which we could say so, isn't it ?
That will be our challenge tomorrow evening !!!

  7. If only the election in the US were finally over! Knowing that we have yet another year of political posturing to anticipate is yet another wonderful argument for spending Christmas in Paris!

  8. I like the style of this photo - especially the wet ground. It really makes the poster "pop".

  9. I love photos like this, a ce moment..so I can see what Paris looks like "right now". I have spent many an autumn in Paris so the weather and the wet streets look familiar and I really like it actually.

The premise of the film is interesting, but I agree that post-election analysis can be tiresome. The fact is that if Sarkozy was elected to enact change and reform in France won't we really have to wait until the end of his term of office to analyze whether he was effective? We still have a long way to go to see what happens don't we?? The plot unravels as they say...hmmm.

  10. I agree with tonton...it's cool to see Paris "right now"--posters, rain, buildings, and scooters, too. We're looking at more snow in the Great Midwest USA this weekend! Skiing anyone? BTW--I hope the riots in northern Paris end soon.

  11. Fascinating Eric. I haven't seen any yet though. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

  12. Thanks for the information, it is actually a bit disappointing.

I thought these banners were a democratic call related to the fact that N. Sarkozy wants to ratifies the "Mini-treaty" when the last referendum rejected it with 55% and that more than 70% expect a referendum on this topic (accordingly to polls).
