A few things I want to share with you

Sometimes you come across graffiti that is really puzzling. This one is... (to me anyway!) I photographed it at rue Quincampoix in the 3rd arrondissement and I wish I knew this "Jonas" person and that he or she could explain to me what they meant. Unless he visits Paris Daily Photo, I will never know... Anyway, I thought it was the perfect photo to post today, as I am returning to me beloved city after a week in the Lubéron, in the South of France. I too, want to share a few things about Paris ;-) While I was away, I did a lot of reflecting and thinking. I can't say more now, but I think I'm going to make some changes to PDP.  Stay tuned...

  3. Actually, Jonas is a neat writer, and I like that he thinks in Pink.

  4. He certainly chose a smooth black background to write on - makes for a nice photo.

Hope he comes and says hello!

  6. OMG Eric!!! Click on my profile photo to see the photo I took from this!!!!

Was it written on the window shop of Agnés B???

I was strolling along Av. George V when I saw this window shop that immediately caught my attention! The other window of this shop had some photos of John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Very cool!

    ;)

(this is me, Monica, I just changed my profile photo to show you the photo I took from this same sentence when I was there in June!)

  7. Oh these teasers, Eric! I can hardly bear it. Tell us about these changes.... :) !

What a great photo this message has made. I too wonder what it means. I hope someone can tell us.

  8. Hi Monica,

Well no, it was rue Quincampoix, I don't remember where exactly but there is no Agnès b. in the street...

Interesting though, it means it's all over Paris then. Is it an advertising campaign? Is this Jonas for real??

Lynn, I can't tell you yet. I'm fighting with Blogger, so I don't want to disclose anything I'm not able to deliver...

I'm off to bed now ;) Happy to be back with you all.

  9. Could it be...Google maps links to where each of your photos was taken so when we are in Paris we can track down the same sight?

That would be a lot of work for you, though...

Good luck in the fight with Blogger!

  10. Gramma Ann expressed it prefectly.
Changes, Eric? We're banned, aren't we? You noticed we moved something in your absence. It wasn't me, I swear!!!
    Welcome home.

  11. Brandon: Google map links? I like how you think!

  12. Quite intriguing and interesting. Thank you for sharing it with us - graffiti is an interesting form of communication.

  13. Ooh, the intrigue. Whatever changes you make, Eric, we know will be well-considered. PDP is a phenomenon! But it belongs to you.

  14. Je predre, mon ami, que le difference will be perfect.

Cali, if anyone is to be banned, well, it wouldn't be the well behaved people like you, would it? Only the nasty people would be banned. Like...hmmm...who...?

  15. I really enjoy PDP and visit it nearly every day. I'll be very interested to see what new things you have in mind!

  16. Jeff: Thank you, kind sir. It has been ages since anyone has called me well behaved. I forgot: you've never met me, have you? ;)

  17. This is really weird -- none of the profile shots are appearing on Blogger. Did they change something? I cannot see Monica's picture, or anyone for that matter.

Eric, "Refecting and thinking"? I was affraid when I read those words. I thought, Oh no, he does not want to do PDP anymore, and he is letting us down easy.

  18. Welcome back !
Hope you have "rechargé les batteries" !!
But what about the sun you were supposed to bring back ? It is raining in Paris today.
I am anxious to read about those changes you are planning. You're the man in charge but you got us addicted to PDP ! There could be some nasty reactions to a brutal detox !! LOL
I hope for you that, as for many, working in August if half holidays !!

  19. Whatever it is, I like it - the different tones of pink are intriguing too. Reminds me of licorice allsorts. I kind of hope it isn't just a smart 'soon-to-be-revealed' marketing campaign.

"Or is there really a Jonas at all?" she wonders to herself. Is this part of Eric's clever secret plot to pave the way for his own intriguing announcement. Hmmmm...

  20. Lois, have you recently upgraded to Internet Explorer 8 and/or applied all the other updates? After I did that I began getting a pop-up box about allowing me to view insecure material on secure sites. It's worded backwards somehow, so you must click "no" in order for the profile photos to show up. Do we have anyone out there more techy who knows whether some kind of setting has been automatically changed that doesn't even give you the yes-no choice? Hope this helps, Lois.

  21. Interesting photo and INTRIGUING MESSAGE from you, Eric. I look forward to anything you wish to share. You consistently do an AMAZING job of bringing Paris to us. Thank you for being such a wonderful ambassador for Paris and a great friend to all of us.

  22. Changes on PDP. Sounds both interesting and alarming ! Can't wait to see what you're up too, Eric.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ooooh the plot thickens! You know I will forgive you anything Eric so we shall have to patiently wait. lol.

Shell, have you got it there? Perhaps it's le roi de Blogland himself, an advertising campaign? Wouldn't that be great?

From Cali, do you think he noticed that spilled wine on the carpet? Oh no... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Eric, although I only discovered your blog few weeks ago, it has since established itself as part of my daily routine. I really enjoy your photos as well as the accompanying descriptions. There's something very life-affirming and compelling about your art (or art de vivre) which I'm sure is the reason you receive so many warm comments. Given that you've plans to make some changes, this might be an opportune moment to say thank you and keep doing what you do - in whichever way you choose.

    Regards,

    John (Honfleur).

  25. Perhaps the Agnes B people saw Jonas's graffiti somewhere and appropriated it for their window. Hmmm, intriguing—and so is your comment about imminent changes to PDP. You know how much we all look forward to our daily dose . . . I'd just like to say right now that I'm ever willing (if slightly less able) to drop everything and come to Paris to be your trusty "blog assistant." Just thought I'd put that out there (before Lynn does).
    Welcome back!

  26. No matter what you do, Eric - even if you need to end PDP - will be ok with me. Its yours. I'm a visitor and its a privilege to share with you and your other visitors what you work so hard every day to put out.

  27. Eric, I reckon this is another Paris streets mistery.... who exactly is this Jonas person? Is he spreading the word all over Paris? Is it part of a campaign....? ;)

LOL Cali, I think we've passed the banning point. By now, Eric has simply accpected the fact the we are all a bit nutty, specially nutty about PDP!!!!

But yes I'm very curious to see what changes he has in mind!

    ReplyDelete
  28. No worries people, I'm not going to stop PDP, I'm just fed up with its present layout and I want to add additional functions that Blogger now allows.

But you're all sweet - including the newcomers like John in Honfleur.

So about today's photo: Stuart, a new Parisian that I've known for a year or so now has solved the mystery. Here you go: here and here

  29. What a relief! Marylène used the word "anxious," and I was anxious too. I'm glad you're sticking with it, Eric. Thank you!

Hello, my name is Petrea and I'm a Paris Daily Photo addict.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Mystery solved! Thanks Stuart and Eric.
Additional functions? Will PDP become interactive? LOL. Either way PDP will always have a special place in my heart.
Lynn: wine stain? Can't be me then, I prefer champagne!
Monica: if we aren't banned I say we haven't been trying hard enough!

  31. Maybe a separate chat room, away from the comments? It's odd that there's email, Twitter, Facebook, Skype, text messaging and telephones - yet people still use the comments as their own personal chat rooms to discuss anything except the photo of the day.

    ReplyDelete
  32. John : "There's something very life-affirming and compelling about your art (or art de vivre) which I'm sure is the reason you receive so many warm comments".
I wish i could have written it myself because that's really my thoughts! And I also agree with the rest of your comment.
Eric I'll always be pleased to read that you want to share with us a few things of Paris. Because you are the best - I don't know which word I have to choose then : ambassador, partner, master, friend, ...?) for Paris.

    ReplyDelete
  33. lol Alexa I miiiiight have already got there with that generic request lol.

From Cali I don't either, who can that clumsy person have been? :0

    ReplyDelete
  34. Probably one of the nasty people Jeff was talking about. Word to everyone on PDP!

    ReplyDelete
  35. ahhh... mistery solved!

I knew Agnès b had something to do with it!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Are you moving to Wordpress, Eric?

Here is my suggestion for a new layout: get rid of the polka dots! :) They're fine for a text blog but it's a little busy on a photoblog. My 2 c, though.

Oui, oui, je sais, la critique est facile, l'art est difficle ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. OK, I read the comments. So you're not going to Wordpress. You know, Blogger template changes and upgrades can be a little tricky. Perhaps it's time for a little face time with the guys in Mountainview? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh, Eric, you had me so worried I resolved to send a comment. This is just to let you know that PDP would be sadly missed, especially by those of us who need a daily dose of Paris to get through our exile in other paradises. Such a relief to know that you are not leaving us . . .

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hope you had a wonderful trip, Eric...we would love to hear more about it :-) A trip I took to that region, highlighted by a stay in Loumarin, was most memorable! Bon retour!

  40. I shot the same picture a few weeks ago!!

  41. Hello everyone, I've been comming to this site for one year now. It is always exciting what the new picture will look like :) and today, when I saw this photo with Jonas name it hit me that it should be lithuanian and I was right:))
Eric, thank you for such an opportunity to know and to see Paris through your eyes :)
