Paris Plage 2009, mid term

I know you're going to say this photo reminds you of the one of Paris Plage 2007, but I don't care, I still like it! I actually took it this evening (Tuesday) at the very same place as I took the one of 2007; where they have sprinklers - a great game for kids! I managed to shoot when there was no one around and when the kid was not facing me. Like I said, I'm pretty happy with the result! I still have 10 days ahead before the end of Paris Plage. Maybe next time I'll manage to be more original...

  1. Oh boo hoo stop it with the self-depreciation already. It's great! What fun for a kid. I wish I had their sense of adventure when it came to water!

  2. It reminds me of the other one because it's just as much a classic! I love it, the subtle color is lovely and the kid looks so happy.

  3. Yes! Petrea is right. We can see the happiness even from behind.

  4. It doesn't matter if it's similar to one in 2007; it's a wonderful photo that captures the feeling of a boy enthralled with the rush of the water.

    Thanks, Eric!

  6. Actually, I wouldn't have thought of the other one - I find them very, very different. I love this one - before I read the caption, I didn't know what was going on. The water is so diffuse that it was a guess that the water on his shirt was from the spray and that he was enjoying it. I found it really compelling, though, because he is clearly wrapped up in something and, not being able to see his face, the viewer is drawn in to try and find out what is going on. On top of that the lighting is beautiful. It looks like a formal portrait of the boy in front of a cloth background, except that it is so unusual. Beautiful!!!!

  13. You captured the strength in that little kid. The man he will become is contained in his summertime play, for now...(and forever because of this shot).

  15. If we were allowed to put on sprinklers in summer, I'd run under them! This is exquisite, Eric. The joy is palpable...

  16. Excellent photo Eric. I can imagine this on one of those inspirational posters reading "Look to the sky!" or "The sky's the limit". Can you sell it to one of those companies?

Also, I agree with E.T. Suzy...quit fishing for compliments when you don't have to! ;-)

  17. Eric, I find this photo so enchanting! It is so ethereal and joyful. I love that it is in Paris, but also, it could be anywhere on the planet, wherever there are children delighting in "those crazy, hazy, lazy days of summer . . ."
    Thank you

  20. Lydia I agree. Lovely boy... Beautiful. That's such an ambition to become a man when you are a young boy. As a father now, I am very happy with my boys. Energy, fun and talks!
For It is my youngest's birthday today, this picture is really a fine cross-checking! Mere chance and that's even better! :) I am going to prepare him a big eve! Thanks a lot to the boy in the photo to be here with us today.
PS: in French today is 07.08.09.

  23. Quite fun. All the wonder and joy of childhood discovery. This recalls, for me, the Crown Fountain at Millenium Park in Chicago. The children there just shriek with enjoyment. Such features are important in big cities, providing joy, variety, fun, and relief from a hot day.

    Long about a Jeudi nuit....
A rub-a-dub, just relaxin' in the plage
    Thinkin' everything was alright....

Reelin' with the feelin', movin' and a'groovin'
    Rockin' and a'rollin', yeah

Bing bang, I saw the whole Paris Daily Photo gang
Dancin' on mon rue de Paris!
Flip flop, they was donin' the bop
All the teens had the dancin'
But there was lollipop with a Eric
Good golly, Eiffel Tower Suzy was-a even there, too with her crown!
A- well-a, splish splash, I forgot about the cafes
I went and put my dancin' chaussures on, yay...

I was a rollin' and a strollin', reelin' with the feelin',
Moving and a groovin', splishin' and a splashin', yeah!

    Yes, I was a-splishin'' and a splashin'...
    I was a-rollin' and a-strollin'...

    Yeah, I was a-movin' and a-groovin'
We was a-reelin' with the feelin'
    We was a-rollin' and a-strollin'
Movin' with the groovin' splish splash, yeah!
