Lunch at Hôtel de Crillon

I know you're going to be so jealous, but I don't care! Today I had lunch at the Hôtel de Crillon, a hotel located in a unique location: the Place de La Concorde. Not only is the view stunning, but on top of that the food is excellent. This, ladies and gentlemen is a Verrine of seafood with a little cauliflower cream and... a caviar toping. You want to call me spoiled? Yes you can!

  2. What Katie said! Although you deserve to be spoiled, Eric—even if you're making me once again green with envy, I forgive you for bringing me my taste of Paris.

  3. Gracefully presented with a fine selection of delectables. I'd happily yield to the temptation.

    Hmmmm...LACD! (French)

  4. Yum. All I had for lunch was yogurt and a diet Pepsi.

  5. Eric, it almost doesn't matter if the photos are good because you photograph things we love to see. Yet the photos are good, too (good enough to eat)! Merci!

  6. You might be spoiled, but you are worth it. ;-)

Thanks for the photo of the view. Chances are I won't be seeing it in person!

Hey GF Katie: is the crown dripping with caviar?

  9. Talking about food, Eric did you know that a film is being made based on the book FRENCH WOMEN DON'T GET FAT ?

Hillary Swank will be in it.

No need to say that this is going to be a Must See!

  12. The Hotel de Crillon! How lovely! I hope nothing diverted you from completely and totally enjoying the lunch. I've been reading some A. J. Liebling, a gourmand who wrote some very funny things about whole hog (literally) devotion to the pleasures of French fare, and I'm sure he would have given his right arm (at least) to join you for lunch. He certainly appreciates your photo, along with me, where ever he is!!

  13. As said yesterday, Eric, your life is surely too hard!
You should be careful and take more care of yourself, or you won't survive ;-)

  17. Ah yes, the Hotel de Crillon, know it well. Have passed by the outside many times.

PS - Did you eat them all Eric?

  18. No Drummon d I'm still on a diet (minus 7 kg so far). But I had a few though...

  19. Monica and Thib, you're making me laugh, from all the way across miles and miles of land and oceans.

  20. There goes the diet, uh? This is a good looking verrine, though. The way I look at it, if you're gonna throw your diet, make it worth it!

  21. I had a fabulous dinner in Paris, too, last night. Won't get into all the details of each scrumptious course, but only to say the "caille"(quail?) was served spread eagled. Since my dinner companion had the same thing, I decided they should have sex, even tho there were no sexual organs to be seen. We horrified everyone with their union.
You have been warned if you invite me out to dinner.

  22. Oh my. Oh my. One question - can you think of some way of sending this across the channel to me please? :) Seafood, cauliflower-cream-whatever-that-is-but-it- sounds gorgeous and caaaaaaaaaaaviar oh myyyyyy.

  23. Francine, I though it was a dessert as well!

Glad to see they get creative and don't just fall back on their location to impress....

  24. I understand why i never see you aroud at lunchtime, Eric! Now that is impressive or is that you (?).
    Btw, 7 kg, not bad...
How are you feeling? Slimer, lighter, always brighter.
Ok I know you really don't like that... :)

  25. LOOOOOOOOLLL You all made me laugh. But I knew you would!

Monica "Talking about food, Eric did you know that a film is being made based on the book FRENCH WOMEN DON'T GET FAT ?" No I did not know that. But I don't really know what this book is worth. Of course, it's not sold here!

And no I did not eat them all. I had 5. Then a big meal last night. So that's one more kilo (it goes very fast...)
I don't feel much slimmer Charlotte, even though I am. It's just that I hate myself when I'm too fat. Now I'm starting to open one eye when I pass by a mirror!

  26. The Hotel de Crillon lists a single room in low season at 770 euros. The Verrine better be really good!

You lost 7 kg? Good Lord, that's 10% of me! I need to get some of these seafood Verrines! Oh, never mind, I'm now leaving to go to a wine tasting and dinner with the French American Chamber of Commerce. Ciao!

  27. This book is sold here Eric because I read it 4 or 5 years ago and I even bought it in English! Written by Mireille Guiliano. Funny.
