Back to Paris

When I return from vacation I usually post a photo of La Tour Eiffel, but this time I decided to go East! This is La Seine, of course, and the bridge (the one you see a pedestrian on) is - as far as I remember because I'm not 100% sure... - la Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir, the latest one that was built over the Seine. Anyway, whatever bridge this is, this view is what makes you want to come back to Paris, no matter where you've been before!

  1. There's no place like home.

I love the dark of the bridge and sky and the silver of the Seine.

    Welcome home, Eric.

  3. Wow, I so like when I feel the power of your words each time you do it like that. Maybe it is just a question of interpretation depending on what I'm taking through your caption, but that is not the first time I'm feeling that. This photo is a real invitation to come back Eric, even though with a vacation destination like you've had, I really would be reluctant to coming back! But I'm glad you'll be back and you'll provide us with the best information/photo as ever. My wishes concerning your flight are already posted (see yesterday post) but I can double them here. I wish you the safest trip back, for sure. Thank you for this beautiful photo. So beautiful.

  5. A lovely photos with all that glorious light shimmering on the water. Perfect mystical haze in the background with the figure on the bridge in silhouette.
    Cheers.

  8. I just got on the computer and learned of a huge storm that beat up Europe. Thib noted it yesterday. I hope all is well. It reminds me of one of our tornado seasons.

  18. Yes Sean, agree with you. I almost feel the urge to swim in this cool water (okay if not the Seine, let's imagine a warm sea or ocean!), and let the Sun rays (with a capital S, yes!) reflect to me while swimming. How relaxing...

  19. It's so so beautiful. I remember when I first was in Paris and in the last evening before leaving I just cried, because it was so sad to left this wonderful city. I miss Paris, I miss the atmosphere, this language around me...I miss everything :(

  23. This is lovely Eric - the light is beautiful. Welcome home. But I've just read about the terrible storms in France (and Europe generally) -hope you are somewhere safe.

  24. Cool photo! All silvery. That person's moving on the bridge, too!!

So glad you got a nice warm rest, Eric, and that you get to come back to someplace you love. It always seems to me that people have places that suit them in a really organic way, not always the places they grew up or lived in, and it would be nice if everyone could find their spot on our little spinning ball. It seems you found yours. And we found you!
    Welcome home....

  26. Oops. I didn't see that it's actually two bridges. The Beauvoir in front and Pont Charles de Gaulle in the background. When I first looked, I thought it was all one bridge. Sorry about that.

  27. The motion of the walker is perfect (and only one person on the bridge!), it gives the picture a sense of urgency and yet at the same time peacefulness with the river and sunlight.
