Crack deals in Paris!

Let's start the week with a smile... I took this photo near the Franklin Roosevelt Metro (just outside the one of yesterday) and I could not help but laughing when I saw it. These green men belong to the city cleaning services. According to the Paris town hall site, they sweep 2 400 kilometers (1 500 miles) long of sidewalks and empty 30 000 garbage cans every day, and they also use big machines to clean the streets. And sometimes these machines get jammed and they have to fix them, and show us their... er... muscles!

  1. Very funny, Eric! Why is it that men seem oblivious to this problem? Or maybe they know and like the fact that we can all see their—as you say—"muscles!"
I like dit when you'd get up at the crack (no pun intended) of dawn and see the men out there with their twig brooms.

  2. That was supposed to say "I liked it," not I like dit."
    (Although I do like dit.)

  5. LM[fat]AO!!!!! Too funny!! Usually in the US it is the plumber that is depicted in this way..not the Public Works man...Maybe he is starting a new trend?? LOL...or LMAO!! Take your pick!!

  6. Ha! Too funny! I wonder why repairmen seem to have this particular problem?

  7. Why all the wise cracks? This seems like a serious problem for the town hall. Do you think they'll crack down on the problem soon, or will they have to start to crack the whip to get things cracking again? Tsk tsk.

  8. I think you've about covered it, Michael (trust a southern cracker)! Oh, wait, no—it's still hanging out there.

  10. Poor guy. Not only don't his pants fit but he's got to wear bright green. There are so many reasons why this outfit is so, so wrong.

  11. My dear Eric, are you implying we are crack addicts? And is this guy seriously going commando? Not trying to be a smart ass, but next time highlight a different muscle. ;-)

(I hope this guy doesn't find out his muscles have been featured on PDP.)

  15. It's not fair that you Western Hemispherians (and you know who you are) get first crack at the puns.

  17. Eric, you give me here the opportunity to use for the 1st (and probably last time) an expression I learnt in Americain: nice plumber's crack!

In French we call that le sourire du plombier (the plumber's smile)...

Poor guy. I hope he will never find out!

  19. VERY funny comments today. I can only visualize the photo, and very vividly, I might add, because of all of you, since the picture does not show up on my computer!!!

  20. Why does is the crack in the human derriere go up and down instead of sideways?

So when you slide down a bannister, it doesn't go blblblblblbbl (make sound with finger going up and down on lips).

(Yes, Guille, the plumber's crack. Ce tres beau frere.)

  21. Jeff!! In fact, all of you PDPers are everything you're cracked up to be!

The post for the 20th has just come out and I realized I didn't see this post yesterday.

I only have one timely comment: the photo clearly shows that yesterday the ash was hanging heavily over France! ; )
