A window to the Eiffel Tower

I had lunch on a Péniche (a flat barge made for rivers) on the Seine today and it was a real treat because the weather was really fantastic. It was not the kind of boats that run up and down the river while you have lunch or dinner, but one that companies can rent for a party or any event and that stays along the banks. This one belongs to La Compagnie des Bâteaux à roue (the Paddle Wheel Boat company), it is called Le Clipper Paris and it's beautifully decorated (click here to visit their site, then look for "The boats", then "Le Clipper Paris"). As you can see, it's not far from the Eiffel Tower!

  2. Oh, I'm so glad Suzy came along first so she could say what everyone else will now be thinking (because of her). Hope you had a de-lish lunch on this peniche on this obviously gorgeous day.

  4. I've been visiting your site daily since late in 2005 after my first trip to Paris. Thank you, Eric, for such beautiful photos. Today's shot has just been set as my desktop. I can't wait to get back on the Seine!

  5. Great shot! You should crop everything that doesn't fit in that frame, and stick that on a Zazzle card ;)

  6. Love it! Eric, in Pittsburgh we have the Gateway Clipper. The Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers aren't quite as exciting as the Seine, though.

Today, the nice weather has gone : is that Eric who has taken it all, yesterday ? Please keep sharing! Keep sharing Eric! ;))

  10. How fun for you to float along the Seine on a fine day! I love your photo. What a wonderful use of the deck's lines to pull our eyes under the pont toward the grand lady. Really great shot!

  11. You are too funny Eric! Yesterday's photo comment all about weight watching, and then today you talk about eating. LOL Hmmmm, it's going to be pretty hard to lose weight if it is a ying & yang thing in your mind. :) Merci for the laughs.

  12. Oh! Le Pont de Rouelle. Another oeuvre of the Expo 1900. I didn't know it.

When I went to Paris I'll go to sites unfamous or a little known, but this bridge won't be one of my places to visit. I like more the nearby Mirabeau and Bir Hakeim bridges. In fact, the last appear in the Come together with me (I think that it's its name)video of Janet Jackson. This video reflects much of the romantic Paris that we know.

  13. Oops... I want to say:

    When I go to Paris...

Apologize me, please. My native language isn't the English.

  14. What a classic PDP shot, Eric! I love it, love the perspective.

Virginia from Birmingham, Alabama Daily Photo and Paris Through My Lens is visiting us Pasadena bloggers this week. She and I met here on PDP!

  16. Fred, your English is much better than my French!

Petrea, what fun to meet more Paris bloggers. Did you take them to Lily's?

  17. Why no, Jeff. They wanted to see Pasadena, "The Paris of the Pacific"! Last night we had dinner in a French cafe in South Pasadena that was tres charmante.
