Last leaves

Funny how nature works. I went to visit a friend in the 18the arrondissement and in the courtyard of her building I took this photo. We're in the middle of winter, but some leaves are still on trees or just on the verge of falling. Don't ask me why, I just thought it would make a nice Sunday photo. And I think it does ;-) Have a nice Sunday, I'll be staying inside for the cold is back again in Paris. Thank you all for your nice birthday wishes BTW ;-) Aging with you all is much less painful!

  1. What a beautiful contrast! Is it autum, printemps or ete? Or is it all three this January?

The wall looks like the one at Hotel Sully at Place de Vosges. I stood there one day and watched the birds kamakaze into the wall and completely disappear. You can hear all the birds singing at a high decibel, yet not see a one. One of my favorite things to do and see in Paris!

  2. IMO, these green leaves are persistent ones. That makes a cool composition in the photo. I love to think that these leaves won't fall as long as the tree is alive.
Like a persistent life between a tree and its leaves, whatever the seasons, whatever could happen except death.

  5. Even the leaves are hesitant to leave Paris! Thanks to all the rain we had last month the tree outside my window is green and full of leaves.

Please! You're not getting older, you're getting better. And don't you know it!

  6. Yes, great contrast here. I thought this looks like the wall at Hotel de Sully too. But clearly not if it's in the 18th!

  7. I agree with Virginia; aging with you and PDP is not too bad.

Today you are a painter. But I can't decide if it's impressionism or cubism ?
Maybe Lois can help out ? ;o)

  9. What a cool composition! (And not just because of the temperatures...:)
I love the green rectangle and the yellow background; I agree with Bettina, Cubism or Impressionism?

The only wish I have with growing older, ...okay, I have two wishes: Not to look my age, and to learn more than I knew yesterday. May you be blessed with the same, Eric!

Am I crazy for wanting my next trip to Paris to be during the winter months?
