Hello lady!

I don't know why, but I love mannequins (I posted several of them on this blog), so when I saw this one yesterday (Sunday) on my way to having lunch with a few friends of mine at rue Rochechouart, I had to stop a take a photo! There are obviously garments in the background so it must be some sort of workshop or something and I sure they did not put this "lady" at the window by shere coincidence! That's all, nothing to learn about Paris today, just a casual shot ;-)

  1. Had to smile when I saw this...the juxtaposition of the window panes held together what looks like a cross with the naked mannequin behind it is amusing.

  2. I find this a very forlorn photo. Just so sad. Don't know why. My two cents!

  3. It reminds me of the real thing I saw one day, walking on Madison Avenue in NY...except it was a man!!!!!

  6. Just passing the time.
    It would have passed anyway.
    We're waiting for Godot.

  7. She looks beautiful and sad- trapped behind the window, her legs separated from her torso, no way she can escape... :-)

  8. I appreciate your fascination with mannequins, but mostly I just love the composition of this shot! It also reminds me of a certain hotel in NYC that we called the Hotel Voyeur until they got the clientele to behave.

  9. My first impression: Typical for Paris, art and fashion.
A window with an interesting story behind.

have some photos like this one too; isn't it GREAT not only to have such displays but to SEE them too?! Such easy smiles on a grey day...

  12. I love the window, and the bars across the bottom are just beautiful. I just wonder who put the mannequin in that particular place? Someone with a quirky sense of humor, perhaps?

  13. In Ireland, we sometimes say that a person is 'half cut'! It means that they have over done the auld gargle! Do you have this saying 'en francais'. Well my point is, this woman looks to be well ........... half cut! Except to say, in Ireland we don't exhibit those 'half cut' individuals in or shop or hotel windows! It must be a french thing.

  14. As a by the way, we had the pleasure of the company of a young 16 year old staying with us recently from Nantes. It's part of a student exchange programme. He was extremely pleasant and perfectly mannered and I hope he enjoyed his stay as much as we enjoyed his company. My only observation worth mentioning aside from the above is that he smoked like the proverbial trooper. 16 years old and he smokes twenty a day and has been doing so since he was THIRTEEN! Is this a 'french thing' and if so, what does President Sarkozy intend doing about it? I've gotta remain anonymous on this one on the count of the maintenace of good international relations

  15. Even the mannequins in Paris are more beautiful! So many stories could be had from this shot. I think it's lovely! Thank you for allowing us to see a side of Paris we wouldn't otherwise be able to see. I really love this photo! Valorie

  16. One minute you're dressed in haute couture, the next you're naked and dismembered, in full view for all to witness your fall from grace.
Fashion can be cruel when you're out of it.

    Love this pic!

  18. "In Ireland, we sometimes say that a person is 'half cut'! It means that they have over done the auld gargle! Do you have this saying 'en francais'." No, I don't think we have this one!

@Anonymous (and who intends to reamin so!!) " 16 years old and he smokes twenty a day and has been doing so since he was THIRTEEN! Is this a 'french thing' and if so, what does President Sarkozy intend doing about it?" Well I don't think President Sarkozy will do anything about that as, like you said it's definitely a "French thing"! We've been trying to turn off young people from cigarettes, but it does not work. And believe me I feel sorry for these porr kids who are trapped from their very first adult years.

  19. Nice photo! If you like mannequins you should check out a web series I am making about an American living in small-town Spain. I am a well known mannequin actress and model.
