More on bikes...

After the bikes lane, here are the bikes! I found them in the 10 th arrondissement, near the Passage Brady where I took the lastest Graffiti photo. If you think riding a bike in Paris is dangerous, well you're wrong! In fact, according to stats I found on this blog, there are 6 times less accidents on bikes than there are on motorbikes... And though most of them don't respect traffic lights according to my experience! I'm off to Lisbon today, but I'll be watching you!

  1. I am a cyclist, and even with the bike lanes in San Francisco, it can be pretty dangerous.

    What is this building? Is it a business? The tagging is really ugly.

    BTW, I have the same basket as the bike on the right:)

  2. Bikes nice, tagging not so much—but still a cool photo. Hope you have a good time in Lisbon (and when you return, maybe you should trade in your moto for a bike if they're so much safer). :~}

  3. Agree Alexa - Eric, how do you manage to make such nasty tagging look attractive in your photos? Is this in Passage Brady?

    I'm encouraged by yesterday and today's comments to risk velib-ing next time I'm in Paris, especially when PHX said the drivers are really respectful of bikers. I'd love, love, love to bike around but the thought scared me. Its awesome that more people are riding. Wish that would catch on in LA.

  4. The photo is great nut if I lived there I'd be repainting every day if necessary! As a frequent "taxi taker", I can assure you that the taxi drivers don't have the same admiration for the bikers...

  5. Oh, Carrie, I'd be terrified to ride a bike in LA. I'm too chicken even to ride one in Pasadena, though many people do it. Funny, I think I'd brave Paris, though.

    The black lines in this photo really work. Too bad about the tagging. It's great for the photo but not so great for the building.

  7. More motivation to get on my bike you are so good.

    I loved cycling through France and cyling through Paris was the amazing as was the welcome I got when I arrived at the Eiffel tower!

    I saw an advertisement one time for a pic nic hamper that was packed into one of those metal bike baskets ( like the one on the blue bike ) so you just hook it on you bike and off you go .

    I did get on my bike yesterday but much more fun in Paris than Brighouse and still too cold for a pic nic .

    Enjoy your trip x

  8. This is the kind of meaningless graffiti that I just don't get. What makes people bring along a spraycan to do just this. There's NO art about it at all - grrr....

  12. I posted on my Facebook status a few days ago..."Spring, where art thou?" Now I know! It's in Paris! Where bikes line the streets, and bike lanes are open. (*can you send it over than pond for me?*)

    Nice photo! Love the blue bike wit the basket! If I got to choose a cool bike, it would be raspberry pink or purple. Or both. ;)
