Open air movie theater

What are these people doing? Looking at the stars, the sunset, the passers by? All wrong! They are watching a movie! Where? On the Pont des arts ? How? Thanks to one of these battery operated video projectors that you can take everywhere (providing you also take a screen with you of course!). Huge success needless to say, since it's not that common to see such a scene. I was not the only one who took a photo (but I probably was the only one crawling on the bridge LOL!)

  1. I recognized the bridge!! Do I win the Tourist of the Year prize??? Why would you watch a movie sitting on a bridge in Paris? Movies are for when you get back home!

It's a popular thing here in Philadelphia. There are even movies in French at the French restaurant on the list above.

  3. I suppose if you live there you'd do it. As a tourist, I'm like Virginia. I can see a movie any time! (Of course I can't always see a movie on the Pont des arts.)

Today I heard an author named Joan Schenkar speaking on a podcast. She said, "Every American writer tries to give herself or himself a gift of Paris if they've had any success at all." I know what she means.

  5. Hahaha! I'm sure somewhere on the WWW, someone has a blog showing a man crawling on the bridge, wondering why on earth he's trying that hard to get a good shot. Bravo, Eric!

  6. @Virginia "Why would you watch a movie sitting on a bridge in Paris? Movies are for when you get back home!" Good question!!

@Ujima. Wow, that's interesting. There seems to me a lot going on on the open air movie scene in Philly. We have one like that too in the summer at La Villette, but this year the weather is so bad that I wonder if it's any successful.

@Petrea "I know what she means." You surely do! Good luck on your book (for yes, lady and gentlemen Petrea is going to publish her book - ( check her blog - !

@Janet "someone has a blog showing a man crawling on the bridge, " It's not impossible LOL!

@Ms M. ""Tenin perspective" at work again." Yeah I should very my positions a little bit shouldn't I?!!

  11. @Alexa "So what was the movie they were showing?"

@Stefan "I can't remember ever watching a movie outdoors." Really? And though it's not ALWAYS cold in Sweden ;-)

@Alexa. "So what was the movie they were showing?" I don't have the slightest idea! I was so focused on my camera I did not even bother having a look at what was on the screen ;-) Besides it was a kind of private party actually, not meant for the whole pont...
