The one week forest!

This week, by pure chance, I passed by the Palais Royal square and saw that a whole forest had prung up over night! Nothing miraculous, it's just a temporary forest made of 15,000 trees (of which 350 are at least 10 feet high!) that were planted to raise the awareness of Parisians about trees and forests some of the exhibit representatives say that they doubt that Parisians can name 10 different kinds of trees!). But the real agenda is more likely to promote the various trade associations and government agencies specialized in the wood industrie! Anyway, it's a pretty cool initiative.

  1. Planting trees in the city is a good idea! I'm sure they'll be beautiful for years to come. :)

  2. Hope the forest would stay on somewhere; love the ray of light from rooftop to monsieur.

  3. What a wonderful initiative. I hope they plant the trees somewhere after they've finished their visit to the Palais Royale.

  4. I think they are trying to raise peoples' awareness concerning "thinking green". It's a good thing. :-)

  5. I love this scene. Especially the good nature of the face that we observe in the foreground. I do not recognize the female character in the background. Someone from the past. Close-ups of a face often tell a lot about a person. Since the closeup of this gentleman. Do you know who is it? Thumbs up.

  6. Excellent idea, for whatever reason and even if it is only temporary. Much nicer to plant a tree than to cut one down to make a poster. Back in 2007, our mayor began an initiative to plant a million trees in NYC. Don't think they've finished, but they reached the halfway mark sometime last year.

Is this un "avant-première" of what the Ville de Paris wants to do with the berges along the Seine for the 1st, 4th, 7th and 16th arrondissement?
