Toutes à Paris !

I was lucky yesterday... By pure chance I came across a huge group of women on bikes, right by the Pont du Carrousel. I rushed to take a photo and quickly found myself in the middle of them. Not only did I discover very nice ladies (they actually thanked me for photographing them, unlike many people I come across in Paris!), but also very brave. They actually came all the way from Brittany (a region of France, located at least 600 kilometers away from Paris) on their bikes (in several days of course!). Why? Because they came to participate in Toutes à Paris, an event organized by the French biking association which purpose was to gather thousands of female bikers from all over France in Paris. Thumbs up ladies!

  1. What a great shot - and they all look so happy - hope you weren't in any danger of being run over down in that position!

  2. Um, Eric, please don't refer to a group of women as a "herd". That's the word we use in English to refer to a group of cows.

  3. @Anonymous. Ooops I'm sorry! I changed it. Obviously I did not mean to say that!

  4. That looks amazing, but I have to admit, I would much rather be on a river with a kayak than on a bicycle. (We recently saw someone kayaking down the Dordogne River on tv and it immediately went on my Bucket List! Amazing!)

  5. A "herd" can also be springbok or deer, so it's not necessarily inappropriate for a group of fast, nimble creatures. Other terms might be used, of course. Band of bikers? Pod of pedalers? Sedge of cyclers? Rout of racers? Brittany bevy?
