A must visit place on the left bank

Here is a stunning building that I don't think I ever showed you. It's located in the 13th arrondissement and it's called La manufacture des Gobelins (after the name of a family of dyers named Gobelin). It's a tapestry factory that was created by Louis the XIVth in... 1601 and it is apparently still in operation. I suppose you can have a tapestry made there if you want, but you're most likely to visit the place and admire the beautiful piece of work that they have over there (I plan to!). Like all national museums, the entrance is free on every last Sundays of the month. The entrance is free either on every last Sundays of the month - as indicated on their website - or on every first Sundays of the month - like all French National museums.

  2. An outstanding building and an outstanding night photograph. I need to get out and start taking some night photographs of my own.

    1. You're right, but I saw on their own website that they say the last Sunday of each month. Odd.
I'll call on Monday and will check!

  5. Oh! A site to see inside and outside! This is one of the most beautiful buildings you have shown us, Eric. What a great photograph of an historical beauty.

Eric may say he isn't jet laged anymore, but...

  9. Ah, but you know the Sun King was eternal, so he lived more than 100 years. Very nice photo. My pix from Paris are sort of washed out in color, sort of like they got soggy in the rain. I need to learn something about my camera. The 'auto' setting let me down this time.
