Work in progress

I love how, in Paris, they (building constructors) hide their work in progress behind huge canvases. It's primarily an ad, of course (for a dating site for women), but look at the way they reproduced the windows and even the café awnings and the passage entrance. For a moment you could think they're real. Very clever.

  1. It's certainly better to look at than scaffolding.

  2. I, too, have always loved seeing these veils over renovation projects. The first one I saw was on the Vuitton building on the Champs l'Elysee. The best was on Printemps, with the Opera "reflected" on it. I've also seen them in Florence and Venice. I have never seen one here in the U.S., but we don't have the beautiful old buildings you have.

Now for something completely different: a comment on yesterday's post makes me wonder what Eric's last photo will be. I'm sure he already has it picked out. It would be fun to have a contest, but since there will be no opportunity to comment after the last photo, we won't be able to compare answers! -Jeff

  4. Thank you Jeff for your information. I have no idea about Eric's choice for the last one. I can't even think of a single angle. He is the only one who can do that. He has always managed his blog as a Master. It may be a photo he has already posted? Or one from his current new perspective ? I have no idea but I trust him to do his best and to be good as ever. There will be no comment opportunity after that one. OMG......... And it will be on the 31st of December, among all the HNY wishes... which will make them sound more unreal than ever. A lot of champagne will be needed....And if so the breakfast time, would be more painful... Where is the guillotine, Eric?

  6. Could there be only one person who would not miss Paris through your eyes? Not even one I guess. But I am sure you'll give something else through your eyes to some others. Because you are talented. And your talent does not belong to anyone in particular, except to you. A gift is a dream. I'll miss you as a whole and won't forget all you've done through your eyes. Thank you, Eric! It was fabulous !! I am sad despite of the joyful tone I am trying to use ;)

  8. It seems that when we were there, something like this was hung on the Concierge. Or maybe I'm remembering one of your photos!

    1. Yes there was. A moving one by Samsung if I recall. Highly controversial though, not like this one.
