I'm sure some farmers would be happy to sent the rain your way.

Eric: Speaking of farmers, I read an article in today's NY Times about the expansion of the Champagne region. Very interesting how the value of land increases when an area makes the list of regions allowed to grow the grapes. Land values increases from 6,000 euros per hectare to over 1 million -- WOW! I don't mind a good summer thunderstorm, which can be one of the most beautiful things nature has to offer, but I'd prefer to keep it at once every couple of weeks at most. This is just too much! Not a giant condom in sight. It's still chilly though.

Your sunshine will be welcomed by your visiting George Bush. Are you able to get us a pic? Will Sarkozy be cozying up to him in the way our Blair did? Those two became the most embarassing 'bestest friends ever'. I do hope they play nicely and that Sarkozy keeps a more stable head on his shoulders than Blair did when he met Bush. They even delighted in the fact that they use the same toothpaste. I say to Sarkozy; Don't let him in your bathroom. Keep your toothpaste a national secret. The starstruck syndrome which Blair cringeingly displayed and his need to secure Bush to be seen as his playmate in the biggest playground in the world had devastating effect, in my opinion, and we British have suffered as a result. Rain or not in either place, I must say that I'd rather be in Paris!

As for the cold, well, I'd take that, too! It has been getting hot and humid here. I have a basic philosophy that goes something like this: When it's cold, you can always add another layer -- don a sweater, curl up with a blanket, or even go buy long underwear if need be. But when it's hot, there's only so much you can take off ... And sometimes that still doesn't help!

Petrea, I've wondered about the weather being related to global warming as well.
