Man Door

In the 13th arrondissement again when I came across this man in the doorway. I really don't know what he is doing or why he's dressed that way, but he looks like a cross between a motorcyclist and, if you look closely, maybe a roller-derby player. Anyway, I really liked the shot.

Rahman

How about a nice little Graffiti to finish the week? I took this photo rue Saint Bruno, in the 18th arrondissement and I like it, because of the father and son passing by in the middle of the picture. Browsing the web I found out who Rahman is: he's a singer from the Ivory Coast and he is also a "slammer" (call me totally old fashioned but I'm not sure what it is exactly...). I'm glad my week is over, I'm going to relax this weekend and take tons of photos of course.

Treasure hunting in Paris

One of the favorite activities of some groups in Paris are treasure hunts. They are organized by various associations or even specialized agencies and they take place in the most typical places of Paris (where hidden clues can be found!) I took this photo in the Passage Jouffroy - where the Musee Grevin (wax museum) is - and I noticed right away, from the way they were dressed and from their attitude that these ladies were treasure hunting...

More street marketing...

Do you remember this photo with this very unusual advertisement for Ray Ban? Well it seems that Sony had a similar idea... To promote a new product they scattered "cling rites" - that is what these little "figurines" are called - throughout Paris (I shot this one at Bastille; you can see the column in the back). Of course some of these cling rites are winners and if you discover the right ones you can win a prize. Pretty clever but it just sucks they did not disclose the product yet, as they promised they would on June 15 on their official site!

La Parisienne ou l'Américaine?

No, this is not already a doll made after Ségolène Royal! Nor Barbie with the wrong hair coulour... She’s actually a Lois Lane doll better known as Superman’s girlfriend (not the doll, Lois Lane, you idiot!) but I think she could definitely represent the typical Parisienne, at least the one of the 60's. Anyway, for those of you interested in her personal details…she was created by the Robert Tonner Company, has a body made of porcelain, wears wool clothes, and she’s actually holding the Daily Planet newspaper (not shown) made of paper. This is again one of the many varying pieces you can find in the musée d’Arts Decoratifs.

Public Toilet

No, it's not a French public toilet - ours are much more sophisticated! - it's just a "private model" that I found right in the middle of the 15th arrondissement (rue Falguière). I thought I should have posted it after my April 24 post! BTW, if you're interested here are the photos I took at Chenonceau yesterday.

Bird spotters

The nice weather attracts new kinds of bird watchers. This one is the urban kind and he goes out mainly at daylight on sunny afternoons... Sorry, no cultural momentum, no architecture masterpieces and no useful tip today, just a funny pic!
