Sacré Coeur (again and again!)

Someone (disclosure, her name is Heather!) lent me a camera with a "fish-eye" lens and I could not help but giving it a try... So here you go, one of my favorite places in Paris, taken from my favorite angle: the pavement! Cool isn't? I must say I love it, but I'm not sure I'm going to fall for one of these cameras, as I think I would be tempted to overuse it! Still... I love it ;-)

Sacré Coeur in the mist

Those of you who have been following PDP for some time now will probably remember the Eiffel Tower in the mist photo (big hit!), well, now look at what I saw yesterday evening on my way to dinner at Montmartre... It was really stunning. Let's us not forget that the Sacré Coeur is located on a hill  (130 meters - 426 feet). Not very high, but it does play a role when it comes to "'touching the clouds...". An apartment with a view...

Look at this view! Could that be more Parisian?! Well... guess what? This is the view I shot from a close friend's apartment, on Saturday. And if I tell you that a lot of you know him (through the comments box), you are going to start wondering who this lucky guy may be... Well, it's "Nasty GG", aka Jérôme, who just bought this new apartment facing the Sacré Coeur and much more. A lot of sun, 2 balconies, a stunning view... I'm thinking... what a fabulous location for a PDP gathering ;-))

Sacré Coeur from the West

I already showed you the Sacré Coeur several times in this blog, but never from the West of Paris. Not that it makes much difference (after all it's still a big meringue surrounded by buildings!) but since it's been a while you haven't seen it... The thing is that today I had lunch at La Maison de la Radio (the French public radio building); the restaurant is located near the very top floor, so of course I took advantage of the situation to take a photo. Did you notice the little white building on the left of the Church? It's a water tank that I already photographed here. Have a good weekend.

Sacré Coeur

OK, enough museums and auction sales, it's Le week-end! How about a classic view of Paris? Not that classic actually, I took this photo of Montmartre and le Sacré Coeur from far away, and more precisely from La Défense where I attended a pretty unusual art opening in the offices of Eurogroup (look for Sponsorship>Artist Residency, if you want to know more). Did you know that Montmartre means Mont of the Martyrs because that is where several Christians got killed during the 3rd century?

Yes, it's a classic!

OK, yes, I know, it's Le Sacré Coeur, it's a classic that you can find on any postcard and I showed it several times (here, here, here and here...) Stop complaining, I never showed it from that close, and never on such a clear day! So here it is, the Sacred Heart basilica, located on the top of the butte Montmartre, the second highest point in Paris. It was decided to build it around 1870 and the first stones were laid in 1875. It's a must see when you visit Paris, not only because it's very very impressive, but also because the surroundings are worth a visit. Of course at this time of the year (Easter break) the place is pretty crowded but it's still better (less worse) that in summer! Have a great week end everyone.
