Another beautiful day

As some of you may already know, I'm going to move from Paris at the end of the month and, well, I'm currently in the middle of preparing my move, which is very time consuming! So the only photo I managed to take yesterday is this one - on the Pont du Louvre. Not very interesting, but very in tune with the stunning weather we're having in Paris at the moment. I should maybe stay after all LOL?

I took this shot on the Bir Hakeim bridge, in the 15th arrondissement. A bridge made of steel that was constructed between 1903 and 1905. It has two levels: one for motor vehicles and pedestrians, and a viaduct above for the metro Line 6 that is supported by metal colonnades that are often used for photo shoots.

Playing hide and seek with ET

I had a "dinner party in town" yesterday evening and I passed by the Pont Alexandre to go to it. The sky was beautiful, the weather very nice and I really wondered how I could take another photo from this bridge without repeating myself... And then I thought of lowering my camera and shoot from in between the bars. I kinda like the result even though the photo is a bit blurry!

Selfie, part II

Here is another photo I took at the Pont des Arts and this time not to show the amount of locks attached to it. The minute I saw these four girls taking a selfie, I knew it would make a cool shot. I did not manage to grab the exact angle I wanted, but I had to be quick and discrete (they are not professional models!). 

Poor Pont des arts !

I went to Le Pont des arts yesterday because it's a lot in the news at the moment. The thing is that because of the tourist season there are so many "love locks" on the bridge that the panels are collapsing more than usual. To prevent people from adding more locks, the Paris town hall hopes to get the lovers to take selfies and post them on the social networks (and the Paris site Love Without Locks). They also put stickers on the pavement at the entrance of the bridge. Will it work? I doubt it, especially since there are about 10 people selling locks on and around the bridge!

White dinner party 2014

This was probably my last Paris dîner en blanc (white dinner party) and it was a really good one! The weather was fantastic, the scenery was too (the pont Alexandre III) and the atmosphere extremely festive. I've taken a ton of photos, but I'm too tired to publish them tonight. I'll do that tomorrow... In the meantime, enjoy this one...

Marriage photo shoot

The Bir-Hakeim bridge is a double bridge combining a metro railway and a road. It was built between 1902 and 1905 and it's a real masterpiece. No wonder then that a lot of photoshoots take place on it. Last Saturday it was not a fashion photo shoot that I witnessed, but a "simple" marriage one. Beautiful, isn't it?

More sun

I was away in the North of France this weekend (for the wedding of a God daughter) and when I returned to Paris, the weather was absolutely stunning. I took this photo in the rue Lafayette on the bridge that allows the cars to go over the tracks of the Gare du nord.  Today to fight pollution, the authorities have decided that only cars with an odd number on their licence plate could run.

Running in Paris

Before I left for Bangkok I went early in the morning to several places around Paris and I was really amazed to see how many people run. Hence this photo that I took on the Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir, where you can see the Bibliothèque François Mitterrand in the background. I  just love the point of view.

From Paris, with love....

 The contagion is spreading!  I did not take this photo on the Pont des arts, but on the Passerelle Simone de Beauvoir, in the Eastern part of Paris. For the time being there are only a couple, but I bet that pretty soon it'll be covered in love... locks. Ah well, at least it allowed me to take a nice sunrise photo.

Straight line

Another view of Le Pont de Bercy that I showed here several times. But I still think it's a cool bridge! It was widened in 1904 so that they could build a second bridge on it, the one above the metal ceiling that you can see in this photo and that allows the line  6 metro to run... 

Soon the collapse?!

It's been a while since I've been to the Pont des Arts... Well, I passed by it two days ago and was totally amazed at the amount of locks that people have hung to the bridge! To the point that I felt like this was becoming a real safety threat! Now I understand why the city authorities are worried... Not to forget that now even the bouquinistes sell locks in case you forgot to bring one with you! Anyway the view is still beautiful!  

More light games...

It's probably because pretty soon there is not going to be any sun in Paris that I try to capture it as much as I can these days, but, the thing is that it's the 3rd time this week that I post a photo in which the sun plays a large role! I took this one on the Pont neuf and waited patiently for someone to walk in front of my lens before shooting.  Have a sunny weekend everyone (well not too sunny if you live in Australia...).

A bridge with a view...

I was desperately looking for a photo op last evening and I could not find any! I even thought of leaving a blank space for once... And then I passed by the Pont Alexandre III! I know I probably posted this view a dozen times, but there is always a new angle, a different light or color! I don't think you can ever get tired of this view ;-) I'm sure this Neva river Nymph is not!

Pont Alexandre III, the beautiful

I know, I've showed you Le Pont Alexandre III many times already, but never with this sky (it's a real sky!)and never from this angle ;-) So here you go... I took this photo 2 days ago, when the sky was much less inviting than today, around 9 pm (it gets dark earlier now...). The Pont Alexandre III was built between 1896 and 1900 for the world exhibit of 1900. It is named after Tsar Alexander III, who concluded the Franco-Russian Alliance in 1892, and it's his son, Nicholas II, who laid the foundation stone in October 1896. It's a magnificent bridge; if you come to Paris, you have to see it!

Beautiful day...

Summer has finally come in Paris, too bad I really don't feel like going out LOL! I dug out a photo that I don't particularly like (there is a reason why I keep photos on my computer and never post them!) because it has very little interest. But providing it matches the current Paris weather and that I have nothing better to show you, it'll do ;-) It's the passerelle Léopold-Sédar-Senghor Pont du Carrousel BTW. 

Never seen before...

After 8 years of posting a daily photo on PDP I feel like I've shown almost everything in Paris (as if that were possible!). For once, however, I'm sure I never took a photo from this angle, simply because it was nearly impossible... Why? Well because this is the Pont Alexandre III from the Seine level, a piece of embankment that was almost unreachable a few weeks ago because of the many cars that would run alongside. Like I told you about a month ago, this part of the left bank is now closed to traffic and is being turned into a giant pedestrian walk, which is why I could now take this photo. Needless to say, car drivers are not too happy about this!

Almost summer!

The statue of Henri the IV on the right, typical 18th century buildings on the left... This must be le Pont neuf on the l'île Saint Louis l'île de la Cité! I was there yesterday, the weather was so beautiful I almost went on a cruise on the Seine (the boat departure is on the right, by the statue. If only this weather could last...
