Bastille Metro Station

I have never used the Paris metro as extensively as these past days and I must say, it's really convenient (especially when it's super cold!). For the first time in my life I even found myself on the platform of line 1, at Bastille! A stunning metro station overlooking the Port de l'Arsenal which is where several boats are docked (no, it did not remind me of Malta!). Add the sun to it, and you have a perfect next to last PDP photo ;-)

Rush hour!

I remember very well when I took this photo. I was on my way to work, it was winter, I was cold, but the sunrise was so beautiful that I stopped for a while and took a few shots.

Feels like summer!

False alarm! I told you two days ago how cold and rainy it was in Paris, well, the weather gods disagree! Yesterday was a gorgeous day and everybody was out in the sun. In Nice, where I was in the morning, it was even too hot! Incredible... Maybe I should stay in Paris, after all ;-) Have a great week, everyone, I'm moving on Saturday, so mine will be quite intense!

Another beautiful day

As some of you may already know, I'm going to move from Paris at the end of the month and, well, I'm currently in the middle of preparing my move, which is very time consuming! So the only photo I managed to take yesterday is this one - on the Pont du Louvre. Not very interesting, but very in tune with the stunning weather we're having in Paris at the moment. I should maybe stay after all LOL?

Last rays of sun

The sun is back for a few days and since Parisians know they will have to wait until April or May to sit and lay outside again, they tend to take advantage of it as much as they can! Besides, is there something more beautiful than a Maillol Statue in the Louvre garden (this one is called Montagne and it was made in 1937)? I did not think so!

Letting the grass grow under my feet...

After a whole morning sorting the stuff in my cave (cellar) I took a few hours off to enjoy the last days of Paris sun. God was it gorgeous! I went to Le Louvre gardens, where they surprisingly allow people to lay on the grass among the beautiful Maillol statues, and enjoyed a sip of coffee. I was not the only one, for sure...

Gorgeous weekend!

We're having one of these late (in the season) gorgeous weekends and it feels good! Too bad I have to spend my Sunday clearing my cellar... Have a gorgeous Sunday everyone!

Long day!

I had a long, exhausting day in front of my computer. Glad I could take a little break in the evening sun with a few friends. Tomorrow will be another day...

Kite festival

I discovered yesterday morning that there was a kite festival (Paris plane - plane means to glide in French)  in the 12th arrondissement, so I went here. It was interesting, but not captivating, to be honest... and very difficult to photograph. Here is the best I could do (I know this could have been taken in any sky on the planet!). Anyway, have a great Monday, I hope this will be inspirational ;-)

Paris, the green...

Paris is less green than London or Berlin, or course, but it's much smaller and still managed to save some green spots from the concrete invasion! Hence these trees that I photographed yesterday afternoon in Les Tuileries gardens. Don't they seem to belong to a forest? Have a great rentrée everyone...

Quick! Before the return of the rain... At Palais Royal...

La Parisienne au soleil

Shoes off, mineral water at reach, book, relaxed posture... Of course I suppose this photo could have been taken almost everywhere in the world, but to me, it's a very Parisian scene! That is why I titled it "La Parisienne au soleil" (the parisian girl in the sun). Have a great Friday everyone. I'm off to Normandy for the weekend.

Eiffel lace

I think I already posted a similar photo of the Eiffel Tower a long time ago with the exact same title, but what can I say, I find this ridiculously beautiful even though it's just a bunch of iron beams and a few rays of sun!

Zen day...

Today is Le lundi de Pentecôte, a Christian feast commemorating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles - among others. And for the 4th time within the last 40 days, French people will enjoy an extra holiday (in May, France is pratically closed!). I took this photo near the Polish church in the 1st arrondissement and I love the way this guy is enjoying a little rest in the sun... Perfect for a quiet day like today.

Sunny walk

I know I've taken several photos with this same angle several times, but I could not help doing it again! It's a pedestrian crossing at rue de Rivoli, and like you can see the sun was shining. As it should today again if I trust the weather forecast. I'll be back to Paris in two days now...

Trapped in the city

In front of Le Musée d'Orsay, there are 3 magnificent animal sculptures. I already showed you one of them once (a horse if I recall), which used to be on my way to school when I was a little boy. I used to climb on it, for I thought it was just a game for kids!). Now that there are in front of the Musée, I know that they are real pieces of art! Like this stunning "trapped Elephant" made by Emmanuel Fremiet, a French sculptor who was obviously very gifted.

The sun is back!

Nothing else to add! Oh yes, I took this photo on the Pont Notre Dame...

From Paris with love

Yesterday took place the last PDP picnic and despite the threatening weather (it poured in the morning!) we managed pretty well. The thing is that I started the PDP picnic series in 2006 because of Jeff (with the blue jacket on the left) - I did not know him at that time - and ever since I always organized them around his Paris visits (I'm working on a PDP book at the moment and I'll have the occasion to disclose more info about these picnics). This year again we had a wonderful time, I met great new people (people who follow PDP, but never comment) and reconnected with older ones. It almost did not rain...  ;-) BTW, what do you think about the true Frenchman with the beret?! ;-)

Paris Belvedere

It may be an Italian word, but we do have a "belvedere" in Paris, that is a very high point from where you can see a 360° panorama. I went there yesterday and it was the perfect day for it, for the sun was really shining. I'm not telling you right know where it is, but I will later this week... Hint: it used to be a previous ice "factory" !

Leaving San Jose...

I'm sorry if all my photos tend to look the same lately, but the sun was so inspiring before I left that I kinda over used it! Anyway, when you read this I'll be on the plane, trying to get some sleep(!) on the way back to Paris. I'm happy to go back home I must say and to get to take new and different looking pictures! This is, as you all recognized, one of the 4 (or is it 3?) statues of Liberty replicas that we have in Paris.
