Sweet moment

One of the big advantages of living in Paris is that there are plenty of nice restaurants everywhere! Yesterday evening I went to one of my favorite ones, le 16 Haussmann (which is also the address). I like their food, their fantastic service and their decor. As you guessed I had this desert... If you happen to be in Paris and are looking for a very good restaurant here is the info.

  1. Yummmm! Making me hungry...good thing I'm about to leave for dinner!

It looks like a fried pastry? With peaches? But maybe I have peaches on the brain since I am in the "peach state" hahaha.

    What was it?

    Michael,

How have you managed to live in both London and Paris? I think you are from the States originally? Am I mistaken about that? Please let us know how you've done it.....

    Thanks

  2. Gorgeous! Maybe I could just have a taste or two...I'm type 2 diabetic...diabetes didn't show up until I was 69 years old. Bummmer!

    Michael, Please email me at
Jwp3937@Yahoo.com. I have some technical questions for you. Thanks

  4. I love all kinds of sweet foods and desserts are of course on the top of the list!
The picture of the restaurant is really nice.
And yes, they actually look like oranges to me... Not peaches.
Susan: Are you from Georgia? I visited Atlanta on june and really loved it. I didn't see any peach tree though... Maybe it wasn't the season for peaches...

  6. Ed,

Yes, I live in Atlanta. Glad you enjoyed yourself! It is a very pretty city with lots of flowers everywhere and friendly people. But it does get hot in the summer...that's why they call it "hotlanta"!

I hope to make it to Chile someday soon.

  7. Eric,
Looks like technical problems again with Blogger. It took me forever to get in here. Looks delicious!

  8. Do you like their prices too? lol

  9. I looked at the link you left and was wondering if this photo describes the Praliné croquant givara lacté aux cacahuètes, sorbet abricot? It looks tres bon what ever it is.

e.t. - the prices do not look so bad for a good french restaurant.

  10. Susan, it's a long story, but basically I went to work for an international company early in my career and had the opportunity to transfer a couple of times to Europe. I then switched companies while living in London and ended up back in Paris after loving it my first go around in '92. I recommend everyone live in a different country for at least a few years to appreciate your own culture as well as the other's. You discover a lot about yourself.

  11. I knew you'd ask what it is! They call it a Calisson.

A Calisson (see a history here)is generally a specialty from Provence (Aix, more precisely) and this one is a sort of "fresh" Calisson.

As for there prices, well, yes, it's expensive, of course, but once in a while it's affordable.

  12. What a lovely presentation. Your photo captures a bit of the blue glass giving a nice sparkle and contrast to the oranges and yellows. Kudos!

  13. When I posted today, Picasa 2 didn't "take". I repeated the blog and guess what....Both posts appeared on Johnnysarc. Mysterious, huh? Sometimes it takes 20 min. or more to pull up ParisDailyPhoto...frustrating!

  14. Ok, I am here via Indianpolis daily photo (which I got to from Indy Foodie) I was trying to see the French Police woman she referenced but alas, the most it will do is "flash" on the screen for an instant before it is gone again. I was able to get here by clicking on the link in your profile. Aren't you flattered that I went to so much trouble? HA Ha! ANYWAY I love your pictures and I am especially amazed by the Mural on the building. This dessert looks SO yummy I tried to find a recipe for it but when I did a search what comes up looks NOTHING like your picture.

  15. It's funny, I was thinking that 9 comments wasn't many for PDP, and when I clicked, I'm here now at 16! Seems like someone is slacking over at Google/Blogger these days.

  16. Michael, You are 100% correct...the counter is way off. Peculiar?

  17. Scrumptious photo Eric. When do you think they'll invent taste-o-vision?

to2sassy...it seems you have to keep scrolling until you can see the photo and comments. I still can't believe there are over 100 comments on that photo you were thinking about!

  21. Eric, this is not fair.
First of all, this dessert looks gorgeous and it's hard from where I leave to expect one of those soon.
Second of all, Aix en Provence is my hometown and I miss les Calissons so much (you could find some in Sydney but it's like $99 a box of 12 and they are all dry)...

    ReplyDelete
  22. OK promis BV, I will send one box of Calissons for Christmas!

Johnny, I know, I really feel sorry for that but it's Blogger's fault. I do home it's not going to last too long...

To2Sassy, well yes I am honoured! Only for you, I will dig out this old, controversial photo of this police women! Here it is

Susan... Don't you dare blowing my next theme day photo!!! LOL

  23. Hi Eric

I like what you guys did with the City Daily Photo web page that shows peoples newest posts - It saves so much time to being able to view them in thumbnail size so get a preview =)

    BTW - delicious pic =D

  24. P.S. I just looked at the link I included above for To2Sassy to the police woman photo, and noticed that you will have to scroll down a lot to finally see it. Again, Blogger's fault not mine. Grrrrr...

  25. Eric, is that thyme garnish? I like how chefs are using herbs and other "non-dessert" ingredients in desserts, like cayenne.

  26. I finally was able to view it. Thanks!
