I came across this interesting example of grafitti in the 11th arrondissement and found it quite striking. I especially like the drooling effect the artist gave his (or her?) caricature. However, I'm not quite sure about the text! Enjoy the last week end of the year ;)
Bonjour, bon soir, greetings and salutations to all as the year is coming to an end. I just looked at the archives for June 2006 and there is our party on the quai in the June 10 photo. Of course, I'm on my knees. Lots of fun. If I don't "see" you all in the next couple days, have a great new year weekend. You have my permission to practice gluttony and debauchery.
ReplyDeleteAlthough graffiti is really frowned upon in the UK, i love it. It's beautifully done by real artists. It depends where it's done of course. I remember a couple of years ago there was a lot of it in Cheltenham with many complaints. He was eventually traced and an enterprising gallery gave him some space to exhibit his work. Then again, perhaps that wasn't what he wanted? Street art is part of the appeal, maybe. Is it tolerated in Paris?
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't look so tough, even if he's drooling! I agree with Lynn that street art is very attractive, especially if it's commissioned, and we refer to it as murals. The "accidental" art which we call grafitti is seldom well-executed.
ReplyDeleteNaturally blondetown has to give big approval for this post! Very funny! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteJust stoppin gin to say hi, great stuff as usual! I like the drooling also.
ReplyDeleteI like it a lot!! It makes for a fantastic picture! Love the colors! the graffitis I grew up with were not so pretty and colorful. ;)
ReplyDeleteEn fait, une autre forme de pollution.
ReplyDeleteBased on the title I expected a blonde lady:)

ReplyDeleteGrafitti has been around since the cave man. I recently saw the first season of "Rome". Grafitti was big even then. However, it still unsettles me. Why do "they" deface so many beautiful things? Easy, because they can and they can't resist the urge to personalize and make things as ulgy as "they" are. But, since we can't control it with laws or police, we must pretend it is another lovely art form.
ReplyDeleteInteresting grafitti....but I'm wondering what it says and the connection to the drooling.

ReplyDeleteWell, Johnny, i think it's indisputable that there is talent there at least? I agree one must not deface surfaces which do not belong. I'd like to see areas designated for this art form.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Johnny, that 'new' word busking, appears today in London. Have a look!

Harsh but nor unexpected.
Who are "they"?
I think it's pretty self-explanatory who "they" are. By using quotes, it was very obvious to me at least that he meant: "they" as in whoever "they" are that make grafitti. More interesting, who do YOU think "they" are?
ReplyDeletewho do YOU think "they" are?
ReplyDeleteI know. But wondered what *Johnny* thought.
Super cool I'd say. Wonder what the neighborhood around it looks like.
