Time change

Like I have sleep to waste! In 2 minutes it will be 2 o'clock in Paris but because of the time change the clock will show 3 o'clock. I know that most countries in the world will do so too, so I'm with you! I took this photo on the rue saint Louis en l'île, on the Saint-Louis Island (one of the two islands located in the middle or Paris). Have a good 23 hour long Sunday!

  1. Lovely shot with the clock and the violet sky...our 23 hour Sunday was last week in the US.

  2. There is nothing nicer than a light 10pm night in Paris in July. Can't wait. Nothing worse than a dark gloomy 4pm in January...

There in no time change in Phoenix, AZ,ever.

  3. The loss of 1 hour last week threw me off for the rest of the week. I was literally playing catch up on sleep. I think I'm getting too old. I used to be able to bounce up after 6 hours of sleep. Now, I need my solid 8 hours.

    Love the photo.

  4. Oh, you're only doing this now? We had to wrestle with that 2 weeks ago. It doesn't look like much but an hour less sleep is a big deal for those of us who don't get enough sleep as it is! :)

In any event, it's a great looking clock! Thanks for posting. I used to fantasize about living on Isle St. Louis when I was living in Paris. It's a great area, most conveniently located, and completely unaffordable!

  5. Australia is changing times too, but we're getting 25 hours this Sunday and not 23! While you lucky northerners will be one step closer to those wonderful wonderful long summer evenings, we downunder are slowly sinking into the dark of winter (sigh!)

Not sympathetic? You should! We're having a dreadful Sunday, grey and rainy. Found some nice birds though, and Australia won against South Africa in the Cricket World Cup so... Cheers!

Now I'm off to change the clocks around the house.

  6. Tomate, Is it true what someone told me that GW Bush decided to change the clocks earlier to conserve energy? I also heard that he said it was Daylight Saving Time (he dropped the "S" off of "SavingS"). We never know what is a rumour or joke these days. Unfortunately, they are sometimes both true.

I love this part of Paris and the photo gives a great feel to the neighborhood. I'm looking forward to those sunny July nights, so bring it on time change!

  9. Great shot of the clock. And THANKS so much for the reminder about the clocks today. I did not realize it was happening this weekend and was a bit surprised when I saw your post this morning. :-)

  11. Oh me too Eric. Not a good evening and now i've lost an hour's sleep. Groan. I do hate it. Luckily, though, i'm not one for lots of clocks around the house so i don't have the time-consuming round to do that some have. Just my watch, my phone and the computer is fine. Oh i just remembered the car clock is a real pain to change. Doh.

  12. You guys obviously don't have the problems some Australians have. Nathalie reminded you that we had an extra hour here in Oz. In parts of the Queensland outback, farmers wives were distraught at the commencement of Daylight Saving because that extra hour would almost certainly fade the curtains. That's true, but it could only happen in Queensland. In the end the Qld. government bowed to pressure and withdrew daylight saving forever.
No more faded curtains in sunny Queensland !!!!!

  14. Michael, sorry I don't know the answer for sure. Honestly, I wasn't paying attention. Some of the older computer systems didn't "adapt" right away, though, took "a little convincing" I can tell you that much.

  15. Michael,

Yes, the reason for the earlier "spring forward" (3 weeks earlier), and the later (also 3 weeks) "fall backward" was to conserve energy.

However, I read that it is expected to only save about 1%. So...it turned out to be more of a propaganda play than anything.

  16. Michael,

Yes, it is true. Bush worked his magic earlier than normal and "voila" we had an earlier "spring forward". He will go down in the "anus" of history as one of the greatest! What he has wrought, let no man doubt. He is a veritable legend in his own mind, in case you haven't noticed.

  18. Awesome Lynn...let's go! Now where DID I put that bathing suit? Oh, never mind...it's secluded isn't it?

Johnny, you couldn't have put it any more direct. Susan can't accuse YOU of avoiding an opinion here!

  19. Johnny, you really got me thinking about Bush. At least we know he's not the only one with problems. Did you see Steve Jobs' new product launch? Very similar problem I have to say!

    Bonjour

Just wrote about the service 'Digi-Guide' on 'Serge the Concierge' and mentioned 'Paris Daily Photo' in the post and took the liberty to use your 'Time Change' photo to illustrate the story.

    Take care
