Everything comes to an end and even if I had a wonderful time in the US, it's now time to go back to my hometown. If everything goes well, I'll be in the plane to Paris when you see this photo! It shows the horse of the main Hermès shop at rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré. I just like the angle of this photo and the shadows it makes on the gray sky. Of all the French brands, I think Hermès is my favorite one: it's expensive but the quality is really there and the good taste too (now I talk like my mother!!!)

Oh Eric, we all talk like Mom eventually. Love this shot of one of my fave stores. Safe home!
ReplyDeleteOkay, Eric's on a plane, but where is everyone else?
ReplyDeleteHere, Alexa, here! Congrats! You should add a Hermès scarf to the crown.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Home Eric! I'll be at the airport with some flags when you'll arrive. (Okay, I won't, don't be too disappointed.)
I think I've never seen this statue before, or maybe it's because of the point of view and the colors. Great colors btw. And I like the effect with the big diagonal.
Nite nite.
he he Guille I like that image!
ReplyDeleteThat sky is really interesting, Eric. The silhouette is marvellous.
Eric - we all turn into our parents eventually, it seems to me. :l
An audible moan of pleasure came from my mouth when I opened up this photo, Eric. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI guess you could say it was good for me.
And you were shocked at my yesterday comment Suzy? LOL !! he he how graphic an image you painted for us all. Giggle. What a naughty couple of girls we are here tonight. Eric will tell us off and send us to the back of the comments box. ...Hmm...:)
ReplyDeleteI bet Guille comes back in in a sec and admonishes us. She has a tendency to keep order around here, despite her young age. Sssshh! she's coming!
ReplyDeleteAs I look at this picture, all I can think of is, "Time marches on and falls into oblivion."
ReplyDeleteAlexa~~~~You deserve that GF crown, congratulations.
Lynn, did you just say, "Sssshh! she's coming!"?
ReplyDeleteEric, we would all do well to quote our mothers. My girls have forgotten that apparently. Whatever, nice silhouette against that cloudy sky. Glad you had fun here in the USA! Come back to see us, ya heah????
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought it was some serious memorial or something — Hermès! ;D
ReplyDeleteBut it is a lovely shot! The clouds on the left look almost neon.
Safe trip!
Well Eric...I will have to agree with you about Hermes; and the photo is almost magical as well! I don't really consider myself a very materialistic person but my favorite possession is an Hermes watch that I have had for 20 years. It is simple but beautifully styled and I always get compliments on it, and what man wouldn't want to wear an Hermes tie?
ReplyDeleteI have been up north talking to the California Redwood trees for a much deserved break while you have been visiting the city of my birth[Boston, MA]...now I'm catching up with all the PDP photos of the last week and they all look great! I especially like the Gnomes, Le Zinc, and of course Les Invalides...and all those happy PDPers at the dinner in NYC!!! Parfait!! ;-)
Bella!! Awww the wonderful Hermes flagship store. What a beautiful statue&silhouette. I like the black/white image against the blue sky.
ReplyDeleteNice point of view Eric:)
and
welcome home!!
How was your trip to the USA?
I hope it was wonderful.
Image is superb the backlight and the sihouette, but I am disappointed to see Lynn has not made any lewd comments tonight.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely photo. I love the color of the sky. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteLove the angle of this photo, too! Safe trip back to the French shores, Eric. Glad you enjoyed your stay in the US. Aussi, merci to all for sharing the NYC experience with us. (I missed out on all the fun activity yesterday...work don't ya know.)
ReplyDeleteAlexa...ciao bella GF! :-)
The Horseman in the Sky...
ReplyDelete"it's expensive but the quality is really there and the good taste too (now I talk like ly mother!!!)"
Don't you hate when you start sounding like your mother? Don't you hate it more that she was always right?
Speaking of which, how do you pronounce 'Hermes' in French? Is it 'Ay-May' because H is silent or just 'Aim'?
ReplyDeletethat photo remembers me Napoleon Bonaparte
ReplyDeleteDr. Carter,
ReplyDeleteJe vous pardonne jamais, jamais.
Joyspring
Photolicious, Hermes is kinda "Air-mess" in French.
ReplyDeleteI mean pronounciation, of course not more ;-)
Eric, I'm with you, I love this statue, and I love the shop below and everything in... Unfortunately, most of it is just a dream for me ;-(
UsElaine...erm..
ReplyDeleteBabooshka, yep sorry, been a bit busy on Eric.
I love the sky! It looks as though Paris is at the moment - cold, cold, cold. Yes, it is necessary to say it thrice. I love the silhouette too - excellent photo.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're sleeping like a baby now that you're back in Paris. :)
LOL - Nathalie and I once had quite a discussion about a similar statue above what was the Hermes shop in Sydney, to the point of wondering if it was Napoleon....one of the local radio stations eventually checked it out and put our minds at ease.
ReplyDeleteSays something about both of us that we weren't entirely (at all!) au fait with hermes symbolism!
I love the division of the building and clouds by the horseman. Love from The Prairie. xoxo.
ReplyDeleteBabooshka
ReplyDeleteLynn's comments are not lewd! They are saucy :)
And did everyone know that our wonderful Babooshka's blog was named on Blogs of Note?
Eric
Welcome back to Europe :)
Coltrane
ReplyDeleteEric showed this same statue a while ago 16 août 2007...just lovely isn't it?
Lynn - I am not shocked by too much when it comes to...you know what. A subtle bit of uninhibited-ness can be very good for the metabolism.
ReplyDeleteTonton flaneur - did you get to Henry Cowell State Park? I'm interested to know what you thought of the hollow tree that used to be rented out for honeymooning.
Hendrawan Riau - I thought of Napoleon, too.
Eric - I hope you had a safe trip home!
I agree with you, lovely silhouette and sky!
ReplyDeleteLynn,"She has a tendency to keep order around here, despite her young age"
ReplyDeleteGirls, BEHAVE! :)
Ohhh - sharp intake of breath - Guille's here! he he ok then. We'll behave. In a saucy manner he he!
ReplyDeleteBabooshka well done!
A hollow tree rented out for honeymoon, Suzy? Good heavens, even my mind can't get itself round that one! Phew.
The tree is rather large, Lynn, as I'm sure you can imagine. I lasted for about half a second inside, even with a flashlight. Too dark and creepy for me!
ReplyDeleteYes, congrats to Babooska! Your photos are wonderful.
> Alexa "Oh Eric, we all talk like Mom eventually" LOL!
ReplyDelete> Guille "Welcome Home Eric! I'll be at the airport with some flags when you'll arrive." I looked everywhere, I could not find you!
> Virginia "Eric, we would all do well to quote our mothers. My girls have forgotten that apparently." It'll come. It took me almost 50 years LOL!
> Tonton "and what man wouldn't want to wear an Hermes tie?" I agree ;)
> Cristy "How was your trip to the USA?" Perfect, as always."
> Coltrane ". Aussi, merci to all for sharing the NYC experience with us." You're welcome or "T'es le bienvenu" like they say in Quebec ;)
> Thib "Unfortunately, most of it is just a dream for me ;-(" Come on Thib, you're gonna make me cry. It's the crisis, I know, but...
> Mme Benaut "I hope you're sleeping like a baby now that you're back in Paris. :)" Oh yes, I'm so tired!!
> Sally "Says something about both of us that we weren't entirely (at all!) au fait with hermes symbolism!" LOL. I don't know about you for sure, but I don't think Nathalie is much of a Hermès girl !"
> Rose "And did everyone know that our wonderful Babooshka's blog was named on Blogs of Note? " No, I did not. And is it thanks to you again??
You're home, Eric...mwah! x
ReplyDeleteWelcome back home, Eric!
ReplyDeleteBut please don't cry, or I'll cry with you ;-)
I reckon I have a number of Hermes ties, and I love their "Terre" fragrance!
But visiting their shop IS a real dream... So many marvellous things...
Seems the trip was short, Eric. Welcome home.
ReplyDeleteEric
ReplyDeleteThis time wasn't me...
Your mother must be a wonderful woman to have such a friendly Parisian son as you! We thank you for your commitment to the PDP and all of us appreciate it. You'll have to tell her that we are grateful.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back to Paris, Eric!
