Through the Cité de la Mode
You may remember La Cité de la mode et du Design, a pretty new building (it was inaugurated in 2007) that looks over the Seine. Very creative, it was a bit controversial (isn't everything?!) because the architects Dominique Jakob and Brendan Mac Farlane added a sort of green glass skin on the facade that faces the water (see some photos here). Last week I went there and here is the photo I took from the inside. I love the effect!

WOW! What an interesting building.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why they choose a green glass skin?
It's very interesting, though I hope there are windows for those who work there because that pattern might get to feeling relentless after a while.
ReplyDeleteLOL Petrea, I totally agree. I do love the effect rhough for we PDP fans. Reminds me of sneaking a peak out of the front window of my childhood home in Florida where there were always screens to keep the mosquitos out.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's a very cool shot! Liked it right away!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure how I feel about the building but I think I kind of like it. It does look like a big lizard or something, but that's not such a bad thing.
Ohhh noooo...like watching 80's reruns on my old 70's TV set.
ReplyDeleteIt actually reminds me of the Arab World Institute, which i always visit because of the rooftop terrace.
Nice stylish building. how many floors that building have?
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope so too, Petrea! I have to admit the photo brought me back to my grandparent's house when I was growing up...they had the screen door in the front of their house that had a twisted metal mesh in the middle. Yep, good times as a kid. By the way, sticking one's fingers through such a mesh, not a good idea. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the view of the Seine though!
Oh yeah, this is one crazy building, but I haven't been inside yet. The outside is totally funky, I'm sure you've taken a photo of it before, there's no way you wouldn't have!
ReplyDeleteNice effect, Eric! I kind of like this crazy building, but don't know if I'd feel the same if it were in the middle of town (like the hideous tower).
