Fast Chess


I took this shot in an open air art market in the 14th arrondissement where these two guys had a stand next to each other. To keep busy, between two customers, they played chess on a mini chess board standing up. It's not exactly the same as Lisi showed in her HongKongDailyPhoto blog about deep blue but I think we can consider this a French version!

    There used to be a cafe called "The Prompt Corner" in Primrose Hill, London, where you could play chess all day. Full of emigrees willing to challenge you (for cash). I spent many an hour there. Long gone, now, unfortunately.

    Like Ham, I remember the Luxembourg gardens where the men (usually men) play chess all day. This is quite innovative though. Standing?

    I loved the Beaubourg Center shot. For some reason, it reminds me of CDG; if you're ever wandering through the airport, I'll bet there are some fascinating shots.

    I used to work closer to Orly - what a horrible airport. Especially since I used to fly Air Liberte.
