Graffiti Montmartre
Whether or not this graffiti artist is mocking "the art establishment" or not I do not know, but I do know that I really liked this when I came upon it. Taken in Montmartre - you can tell by the street sloping! - no space is safe from personal expression. You can also notice a poster for Gospel Dream. If you come to Paris and have time, you can see this and other gospel groups singing in some of Paris' famous churches.

A very good eye you have for detail Eric. I never would have noticed the gospel music poster had you not pointed it out.
ReplyDeleteI really love this one Eric. The colours, the perspective, the sloping street. Do you know what the building it is painted on is? It looks like a shed or something, but I can't tell.
ReplyDeleteThat is a really good looking grafiti. Very artistic and perfectly in tune with that neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteIt really looks kinda "more fun."
ReplyDeleteFun photo! Hey, that door's sure seen a lot of posters in its day.
ReplyDeleteVery clever i thought too!!
ReplyDeleteDidn't make your theme day yesterday i must have missed it with the time difference!! There were some great ones to visit this month.
This is one of the best graffiti masterpieces. Oh that all graffiti was of this caliber. I think I have been by this place sans the artistic endeavor. Johnny
ReplyDeleteAh...this is a super photo, in so many dimensions.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing it with us!
That's funny, on our April trip I took nearly the same photo in Montmarte! Of course yours is better than mine. And the gospel poster wasn't there.
ReplyDeleteI was showing a friend around Paris last April when we came across this delightful piece of graffiti. There are several more works of "street art" in the area - have you seen those?
ReplyDeleteI realize the stick man drawing actually is quite proportionate!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone published a photo book of graffiti around Paris? From what you have shown a lot of it is very artistic and I for one wouldn't mind seeing more.
ReplyDeleteCool Photo! I like the subject matter and the colors.

Are you aware that MENAGER
ReplyDeletethe artist of the white man
has painted his famous creature
all over Paris for decades now ?
In the most hidden end alleys and
very often on old buildings about to be torn down.
Yes particularly in the 20th Arondissement. Best on a 5 floor wall
corner of rue Sorbier & Menilmontant
He cheers up the town
Wow! I know it from somewhere :)
ReplyDeletearchiwe
art is the only word to describe this, in fact I don't know why people call this vandalism, and yeah I have a entire wall behind my house, the entire wall is a real canvas.
