I took this photo in the
Saint Jean-Baptsite de Grenelle church near the
rue du Commerce in the 15th arrondissement. This was my first time there (I rarely go to this neighborhood). The minute I entered the place I was stunned by the enormous amount of perfectly aligned chairs there were. I thought it would make a cool photo. It does (well, in my opinion!).
Well, from the profane(the sales) to the sacred, I appreciate all the different kinds of Paris you show us.
ReplyDeleteHello to all. Back home in PHX to dream of and discover more of CDG with the help of PDP.
I guess chairs are better than pews because they're easier to clear out for the Friday-night disco.
ReplyDeleteHello PHX-CDG!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful angle resulting in a great photo. The perspective is perfect.
Nice depth of field! Too many chairs for my liking - makes me nervous for some reason.
ReplyDeleteperfectly alligned chairs.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you take your camera with you absolutely everywhere, and you aren't afraid to use it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm hoping that there's room for at least one more chair because I see that Sarkozy is about to commit a huge sin.
ReplyDeleteIn order to help fund his idea to remove advertising from all public French television stations, he's suggesting to impose a tax on the internet! I think Sarkozy might need to get some religion.
At least he should consider getting some advice from his friend Loic Le Meur who had the chance to interview Sarkozy for his blog.
Very good shot, Eric.
ReplyDeleteInteresting perspective and lighting. Another great shot.
ReplyDeleteA tax on the internet? Whaaaat? Tell us more do as it happens Michael and Eric.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great angle, Eric and behoves me to take a similar one of our stunning Tewkesbury Abbey. I think though, photographs are not allowed inside. I shall enquire. Beautiful shot.
The best thing to do Lynn is NOT to enquire. Just ask forgiveness when they try to throw you out!
ReplyDeleteYep you're right. I'll do that. TEWKESBURY WOMAN TURFED OUT OF ABBEY AFTER SHOOTING VICAR! I can see the headline now.
ReplyDeleteOr even...
ReplyDelete"Tewkesbury townspeople ticked when blogger targets theologian."
Eric, I start every day by checking your newest Paris photo and I am never disappointed. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYes it does make an amazing photo!
ReplyDeleteThink of all the time taken by some patient person... doing this.
Think of how quickly his careful alignment will be disrupted, when it's time for a mass.
-sigh-
And then, he will do it all over again...
A lesson in perseverance maybe?
Mari-Nanci
Btw, how did you get this shot?
ReplyDeleteI see you lying on the floor, getting it perfectly aligned, and snapping.
Lucky you to be young/agile enough to get back up off the floor, after!!! -giggles-
Mari-Nanci
Magnifique perspective en effet. Il fallait y penser. C'est à ça qu'on reconnaît l'artiste.
ReplyDeleteI love the shot. the depth of field is great. Why don't you do to the 15th alot? :)
ReplyDeleteDieu te bénisse! Love this pic. I don't know this church. Would you believe I walked all over Chartres Cathédrale (with their chairs situated just like this) and never knew at the time that there was the mother of all labyrinths on the floor? (Couldn't see the forest for the trees). Nothing misses Eric's eye!
ReplyDeletehe he Michael you're clearly the broadsheet and i the tabloid. lol. By the way, i'd love one day for someone to creep up behind Eric when he's laying flat out on the floor taking one of these pics and snap a pic of him! Who knows him, who's up for that? The elusive pic of the year, surely.
ReplyDeletecould not be better i am writting an assignment due on monday ... oh Lord help me ... eric you are the first free online pray services ... do you have a picture near the cross..
ReplyDeleteInge...how about this one?
ReplyDeleteI'm going to Michael when I need a laugh.
ReplyDeleteThis photo makes me think of a wedding when it is celebrated in a church ! Pam pam pam pam pam pam .....(music)!
ReplyDeleteI love your floor shots Eric and this is a very pretty church, in the neighbourhood where I used to live - rue d'Ouessant - I didn't ever go to it but it is lovely just the same.
ReplyDeleteYou were on your knees praying, right Eric?
ReplyDeleteSmilnsigh, I thought of the same thing: some very patient pensioner arranging these chairs every morning....
absolutely stunning photo!!!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful companion shot to "Prayer" from a few months ago. I love the golden glow of this shot and the perspective. Nicely done my friend!
