Reflecting on things

Taken in front of Fauchon, this juxtaposition of images and reflections really caught my eye. Not much more to say except that when I see someone thinking, I always wonder what she or he is thinking ;) ! Talking about thinking, thanks a million for thinking of me with your nice wishes yesterday - and emails too. I did not have the time to see them all, but I will. Shame there is no Internet access on board Air France planes... Stay tuned, I'll be checking in regularly.

  1. I like photos with reflections. It definitely adds something and once the photos is printed you see things that the naked eye missed: as we will wish you, but not naked!

  2. I actually don't know what that last line means! I had to answer the phone (at work) and was in a hurry to be, yes, I admit GFF! Guess what the extra F is for!

  3. LOL Cali, and good job!
I love the collage look in the photo today, as well as the colors.

I like the new Fauchon with all of the bakery items, but miss the beautiful displays of yummy looking prepared foods that used to be in the windows.
PS, Eric- Try AMERICAN AIRLINES for inflight internet access!

OK I confess, just on some domestic flights.......

  5. WOW, this photo is great. I love this idea of reflections everywhere as the lady we can see in the photo. Well the man in the foreground looks hmm pretty nice too!!! LOL ;) I'm kidding!!
Have a nice trip Eric, I'm thinking of you, currently in the plane, as I imagine. And in transit when you have a chance to read! Do hope you'll be checking in from time to time and also enjoy everything in your trip! Well, thinking of you will be my theme day for a while if you don't mind ;) Thank you for showing up. Totally unexpected, yeah!! Totally...! :) :) :)

  7. Oh, if he's sitting in front of Fauchon looking in, he's probably thinking "I want one of each!"

  8. So much going on here, Eric, that I'm wondering—where's Waldo? (Do you have that in France?) Hope you are jet lag–free in no time.
Cali -- way to go GFF (an extra F for: first? flying? Fauchon? Funky? Fabulous? Flipping out?).

  9. LOL Cali ~ and congrats!

Eric, of course you always wonder what people are thinking ... part of the reason you're such a fine photographer is that you are a keen observer. Not naked, though, just so we're clear on that.

  10. Nice one, Eric. Feel free to show us photos of good-looking French guys whenever you like.

Shell Sherree, you don't have to be so picky. Eric can be naked if he wants to. He's still a keen observer, either way.

  11. Hmm, now that you put it that way, Petrea ... perhaps it even sharpens the senses. May Eric cast all modesty to the winds for the sake of art and his PDP faithful. It may make it harder for Lynn to hide the boomerang, though.

  12. What an interesting picture. I've had a few of those in my life, but none as cool as this! I hope you're having a wonderful flight with no delays!

  13. This photo totally engages me and has beautiful composition and a wonderful dreamy quality, but, I'm so confused by it!

What are we looking at? Is the whole thing a reflection in two levels? Are we looking into the store or out of it? What are the longish objects in the background? What or who is the slightly visible woman in front of or behind the man?

    Can anyone help?!! <8-)

  17. Wow!!.. J'adore cette photo! C'est la réflexion d'Einstein que je vois dans la fenêtre?? Faisait-il des achats à Fauchon??

Hope you enjoyed your Air France flight and that they didn't run out of baguettes! ;-)

  18. C'est la Madame Einstein avec sa boucle d'oreille!

So, maybe he's thinking....."time and space - they're all of the same fabric - sometimes I look down the street and its as though I were looking into the past, but with the ghost of my mother gazing off into my future with me...."

  19. Caro, are you humming "Strawberry fields forever ..."

  20. Sadly, I have to toddle off to bed here in the wrinkle of spacetime parochially known as SoCal, but, maybe I'll dream of a theory of everything - and, better yet, wake up to find out what other people think he's thinking!

A faire dodo ... bonne nuit, mes amies...

  21. What an interesting photo! To me, it looks as though an angel -- perhaps the man's grandmother -- is looking over him ... inspiring him ... Or perhaps she is in his thoughts. Lovely, Eric. 'Hope your vacation is off to a perfect start!

  22. P.S Carrie, I got interrupted and didn't see your note before I typed mine. We must be on the same wavelength!

  23. Don't worry girls, I've tied a boomerang to his g-string! ;) he'll be back. It was quite a tricky job but well someone's gotta do it.

This pic is intriguing Eric, not least because, in all the reflections, I can't find you! How did you manage it? Is it because your nakedness allowed you to blend in, chameleon-like?

Yes that French man on the left:....is he single?

  24. Isn't it just typical of women?Poor Eric's hardly on the plane and Lynn's eyeing up other men already.

  25. Good reflection Drummond ;)
Eric, hope everything's fine for you with no delay!

  27. I'm fascinated by this photo. I count at least 4 reflections: The man, a fence, the woman in the background, and the refletion on the car. It also has a bit of a retro 60's look to it, although the headset gives it away as modern.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Michael -- can you tell what is a reflection and what isn't?

I'm fascinated, too - trying to figure out what's what. The man, car and lightpole look like they may not be reflections, but, the man seems to have reflections both overlaid on his back and that he overlays.

I can't tell if the fence and the long objects above or behind it are in the same place. Is that a building behind the fence or reflected objects from inside the store? And where is the woman or her reflection with regard to the fence and everything else??!!! Its wild.

  29. That's Eric with la boucle d'oreille. Now you know why he leaves Paris so often! (Oh, that's evil.)

    Bon weekend tout le monde.
