Morning at the Unesco

You probably know the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (better known as Unesco), but what you may not know is that its permanent headquarters are located in Paris... This morning I went there for the first time in my life, to attend a few conferences held by NetExplorateur, a yearly event dedicated to new innovative projects in the digital world. It was very stimulating, and being in such a historical place made it even more interesting.

  2. This shot is SO dramatic! My diplomat cousin did a lot of work at UNESCO and I was hoping he would be stationed here so I'd have a place to stay in Paris (selfish, moi?). You're really ALL over town these days!

  4. Stimulating, oh yes!...
I love all the pictures I looked at in he Unesco brochure from people all over the world. Faces. Eyes. Smiles.

Well... not easy... but so wishful...

  5. Sorry for many typos above.
Here is a translation of Irina Bokova words : "The real issue is to lead the world in a new era of peace and humanism, create more inclusive societies, fairer and more equitable, thanks to an economic and social development based on knowledge, innovation and new technologies, intended to serve humanity while preserving the environment".

  6. Very dramatic! I really like it! I've heard of Unesco, but never really knew what it stood for. For some reason, it sticks in my memory that Unesco was part of the post war Holland (WWII) effort to get food and needed supplies to the people there. Either way, I'm glad there is an organization that helps so many.

  7. Eric, is this the organisation that tried to step in when the Taliban was getting ready, and then, destroyed the statues in Afghanistan? Used to live near Unesco, but never went inside. Thanks for the view.

  8. I love the photo, Eric! The play of light from the spots is lovely and contrasts nicely with the gleaming wood and the dark seats in the audience. I have always meant to tour the art collection at UNESCO...now it is on my list!
