Two days ago, I was driving on the Champs Elysées and I came across a group of people walking up the upper part of the avenue towards the Arch of Triumph, probably to revive the flame of the unknown soldier. I don't know exactly who participated in this march (there were military men first, then civilians), but I like the photo ;-)
The shot has great dynamics to it. It comes across, even with current clothing, as a timeless moment.
ReplyDeleteThat's an impressive shot, and an impressive crowd for the ceremony. I think I've asked you this before: does it happen every day? We came across the ceremony when we were at the Arc.
ReplyDeleteI could not tell really? I think they revive the flame everyday, but they don't march like this everyday, otherwise drivers would go crazy!
DeleteEric, all details about le ravivage de la flamme here : http://www.laflammesouslarcdetriomphe.org/
DeleteYou can even find which association is (are) on your photo...

ReplyDeleteYour "famous" perspective served you well here! And I love all the neutral, somber colors in your shot—the arch, the marchers' clothing, the cobblestones.
