Paris Wine bar

If you are into wine, you must go to a bar à vin (Wine bar) when you come to Paris. There are hundreds of these bars in Paris - and in France in general, see this book if you're interested - and they are good places, not only to drink wine of course, but also to grab something to eat. You can ask Le vin au verre (wine by the glass) or Une bouteille de vin (a wine bottle). Don't ask me which one to choose as I am not a big wine drinker but you may check with O Chateau that I already mentioned here, if you want to know more.

  1. Hey, you know I've not looked for a bar a vin. Most of my traveling friends drink beer. Next time, I'll bring a list and make the circuit! Sante!

  4. He, he... I like to try to guess your commentary when looking at your pictures from the portal. Usually, I am not too far. Today, my guess was that it was going to be about "le zinc". Ah well...

  7. I'll have to share this information with my friends currently planning a trip to Paris for their 10th anniversary. As for me personally, I must admit I am not much of a drinker, but I am a romantic about the wine I’ve shared in the company of great friends in their country. I can’t help but get caught up in their passion when they tell me the history of what I am drinking. When I drink their wine I am in essence drinking their culture, their land, their pride. This knowledge along with the fermented grape, always makes me smile. ;)

  8. To tomate farci: You're perfectly correct, any bar or café in France will serve wine. However, they typically have a selection of 2 or 3 red, 3 or 4 white, maybe a rosé. A Bar à vins specialises in wine, and may have a hundred or so to choose from -- some costing way more than the clientele of a café would pay. My favourite is the Bar Henri IV, on the point of the Ile de la Cité, opposite the statue of Henri IV that Eric showed us not long ago.

  9. Expat, that's great info. I'll stop in there next time. I need to spend some time in Place Dauphine anyway. (I recall Monica likes it there, too.)

  14. Well...tonight the "World Series" begins with my hometown team the "Boston Red Sox" vs the "Colorado Rockies"...maybe I can find a nice wine bar in San Francisco where I can watch the game??? I don't think so!! LOL!!! We do have several good wine bars here in SF, and a couple opened this past year, however only one I know of also serves[very good]food! It is CAV on Market street if you're in SF for a visit..where the euro goes far these days!!

  16. I'm not usually as appreciative of black and white photos. But this one is perfect, in B/W.

  19. One of my favorites is Au Sauvignon (80, rue des Sts-Pères, 75007) across Blvd. Raspail from the Bon Marché department store.

  20. Pourrais-tu STP être un peu plus précis sur les adresses des lieux que tu évoques. J'habite dans le 15e depuis plus de 10 ans mais je ne sais pas où ce trouve le bar à vin de cette photo et c'est un peu frustrant... Merci ;o)
