Encounter of the 4th kind!

It was 11:42 pm, I was walking down the street after having dinner outside with some good friends and I really had no clue of what "the PDP photo of the day" was going to be! Then suddenly, in front of Le BHV department store, I came across this strange seen! I have no clue what all this was for... Probably a photo shoot for an ad like the one I caught in January 2006. But it was really fun - and unexpected.

  1. Very unexpected. Funny shot though.

  2. Strange scene indeed! Could almost be said to be brutal, poor guy!

  3. How did they do that? It's the exact same thing! I guess I'll just have to think up another Halloween costume this year.

  4. Okay! That's really funny, Eric!

Glad you have your camera at the ready at all times for us! Way to go!

  5. Hmmm... I just know some of our regulars commenters are going to have some .. ahem... captions for your photograph, Eric. ;)

  6. Could call it the "Tenin Tango" move, with the lady behind, her arms binding him to her will, his bare flesh completely subject to her will. Could be hard on her foot arches though... not every couple can get away with this.

  7. Eric hasn't done a mannequin photo for a while -- I knew it was coming. I count about seven mannequin photos on PDP -- I bet there are more -- Eric's mannequin series. Yes, I see a style thing going on here.

BTW It looks like the mannequin is suppose to where hi-heels :-)

  9. Here's one for you Tomate..."No, no, please! Disco is dead! Sell those Donna Summer albums! Quit doing the Hustle! I'm tired of Hot Buttered Popcorn and Walter Murphy's "Fifth of Beethoven"! Don't tell me the Bee Gees rule! For the love of Disco Duck, let's not recycle Abba in a Broadway Musical.... [Okay, Tall Gary, I toss the caption to you] ;-)

  10. Is that Cali wearing my GF crown? Congratulations young lady! It was indeed an honor while it lasted.

    Funny photo, Eric! XOXO

  12. Hee hee! Fun, indeed, and a little bizarre too. I call them "Twilight Zone" moments. ;)

  13. Great capture, great shot! I rarely see this in Pasadena, only every so often....like never! Only in Paris!

  14. I always carry a disposable camera in my car for moments like this -- Everyone should try it -- its so much fun! The things you see that would otherwise flash by in an instant, never to be recorded. And then, you begin to look for the oddities of life.

So ladies, what kind of heels would this guy pick with a head like that? A pair of platform 9 inch stilleto see thru plastic numbers? Anybody seen the movie Kinky Boots? Sweet, moving and funny all at the same time. Our mannequin friend and all the comments remind me of it.

Coltrane and Tall Gary -- funny, funny. :)

Cali - you're on top again!

  15. I guess you never know what you'll stumble across in Paris! Is that silver ball the mannequin's head?

  17. This reminds me of when I used to work in Macy's windows in Manhattan. It wasn't uncommon to see the visual display people carrying oddly decorated mannequins or props around the store. I would love to know what these guys are actually up to. Eric you always post photos that get our imaginations going!

  18. Carrie, "...see a criminal court in action..." Guille would most likely know about that since she is taking law in colleg.

He needs platform shoes to complete his 70's look. Disco Duck, I forgot about him. What a weirdo he was!

  19. BTW, thank you -- All of you -- you are so nice not to mention all my mis-spelled words. I know I must have a gazillion. I know -- Lois, learn the language.

  20. The woman is holding the headless mannequin, her hand on its thigh. The headless man behind looks as if he's reaching for her derriere. It's a menage a trois. Those French, I swear, always thinking up new...things.

  21. Caption: "Excuse me miss, may I cut in? They're playing our song."

Ae you crazy? Does this sidewalk really look like a disco to you? I'm just delivering John Travolta's dutch wife.

  22. What exactly were you doing hanging around le BHV at 11:42 pm after dinner? Enquiring minds want to know.

LOOOL ; don't know what Eric will think of this but I guess I would appreciate the comparison!!! :))
You've been helped by a an invisible force, Eric!

  24. Whaa sexy picture.
Jeff is right, it's a menage à trois! Typically French (really? lol).
    He's a Disko Boy!

Tall Gary, did this man take amphetamines before singing or what?? Gosh! So funny.

  25. *sorry, I guess 'he' would appreciate..

  26. Coltrane
It is more like you borrowed stole the crown for a day not the other way around!

    Uselaine
    I agree with you, entirely!

  28. Okay, I'm cuing up the music. . .

    "People all over the world
    Join hands
    Join the love train
    Love train
    People all over the world
    Join hands
    Form a love train
    Love train. . . ."

I've always said I like a man with a good head on his shoulders. . .

So, does anyone know what Justin Timberlake is doing in Paris showing up in this disco fever scene in an argyle shirt? BTW, I want her sparkely skirt, and I hope she gets around to polishing those Doc Martins.

    Very fun photo Eric!

  30. This is the first time in my life, that I've seen a Frenchman, sans trousers.
My search has finished as fast as it had started !!

Perhaps he is not the personification of of his compatriots ?

  31. It's obviously a pogo-dancing accident.

  34. You'll always be a king here, Coltrane. I will not be competing tonight so had to go for first one last time.

    Uselaine: Tenin Tango? Me likey!

Carrie: I've started carrying my camera again. Haven't found anything this unusual so far.

Rose: what's on your mind? ;-)

  35. Upon further investigation, I see a second mannequin who is about to pinch the behind of the woman. This just keeps getting better!

  36. We have a constitution here at PDP,too, and Tall Gary is the GF winner today!!!
I just learned something on a layover in Barcelona last week...you are allowed to walk around naked in the city and it is perfectly legal, but as soon as you put a shirt on, you can get arrested.
Now I wonder if the EU will put THAT in THEIR constitution!

  37. 'let's all do the conga'.........

  38. Eek! Malibu Ken comes to life! Thanks for the fun shot...

  39. "Malibu Ken" that's a good one.

phx, Walk around naked in Barcelona -- wow, you would really be asking for it. Even when you have clothes on, those Italian men are all over you.

  40. despite being strange the most amasing thing about the picture is that it is universal .. it could have been shot anywhere [a city with shops I mean] but NY, London, Hamburg, Oslo, Hong Kong .. untemporal may be I don't know but universal and surely artistic

  41. I visit frequently, but I don't usually comment here. This time I can't help myself. Eric, I enjoy all your photos, and this is no exception. I love the whold scene - the reflection in the window looks like a scene from a science fiction film. Perhaps they've all had too much Red Bull.

    ReplyDelete
  42. That is an awesome picture! You'll never forget that scene, that's for sure! Thanks for sharing this moment in Paris with us.

    ReplyDelete
  43. How opportune,Eric! It's not every day one stumbles upon a scene such as this lol!

Guille great to see you kicking pigeons over at mine. I've missed you. :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. This is the craziest conga line I've ever seen! Eric, how DO you do it?

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ce genre de scène, c'est toujours marrant :D

  46. Haha, errr.....okay!! =D I don't know what I would've thought if I came across this at that time of night!

  47. A life size Ken doll...and still anatomically incorrect. Guess Barbie is out of luck!
