Smart Ratatouille
Do you recognize this guy? I know you do... If you were in Paris at the moment you could see hundreds of him, all perched on the roof top of Smart cars. They had the clever idea to use these cute little cars to promote the DVDs of this cute little rat! And it works pretty well; people can't help turning their head when they see one of these cars coming, several newspapers wrote about the operation and the little rodent even made it - again - to the home page of PDP!! (Well, last time, was much less cute, was it?)

He's cute - for a rat.
ReplyDeleteNot sure what it has to do with Smart cars, but whatever works!
Hey Buzzgirl! You win the First to comment contest today ;))
ReplyDeleteCute little Remy the rat. I really enjoyed the movie - the Paris scenes were realistic enough to make me long to return. I didn't know that the "rats in a trap" store was real though, until you showed us here on PDP. Quelle yikes!
ReplyDeleteWhat is the prize for second place, monsieur? ;)
Je suis d'accord avec Buzzgirl... Pour une fois qu'un rat a l'air mignon et en tout cas certainement plus heureux ici perché sur le capot d'une smart que pendu par la tête. Beurk :-)
ReplyDeleteEt la troisieme place alors? Normalement je monte aussi sur le podium ;-)
ReplyDeleteFun photo Eric! Even if it is of one of those nasty little vermin. I think I might have a slight heart attack if I were to see many of those driving around.
ReplyDeleteI'm with pont girl in that watching the movie made me yearn for Paris even more than I usually do. The scene where Remy looks out of his little windowsill bedroom to the perfect view of the Eiffel Tower left me in tears and pouting for the rest of the day. Not fair!
I want a Smart Car with Remy Ratatouille attached to the top!
ReplyDeleteGold, silver and bronze medals have already been won. I guess I must consider my "Ratatoulle" DVD as consolation.
ReplyDeleteTall Gary, that's exactly what my husband said of yesterday's first 3 arriving medal winners!!!!I even wrote that to Monica!
ReplyDeleteI KNEW you were playing with the posting times, Eric! I confess, I was quietly pushing Monica for the gold.
In New York City, you can sometime see a massive masculine truck, driven by the same, with a stuffed animal tied to the front grillwork.I enjoy their sense of humor, as I do this little rodent on top of a car.
'tis the year of the Rat, after all
ReplyDeleteIndeed ... and it was a fun movie too
ReplyDeleteI never thought I would feel this way...but he is one cute rat! Maybe because he is French? ;)
ReplyDeleteThis rat gave the DVD to his brother for Christmas...with the express intention of borrowing it. This rat has not seen the movie, but I want to.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, MSN.com had a long story the other day on the introduction of the Smart Car in the U.S., especially in New York. The only criticisms were that the transmission is odd and--this is bad--that they only get 35 mpg. Hey, my Honda Civic four-door gets that!
Oh, hey, thanks for the connection Eric: I spoke with PHX-CDG today. She's a lovely lady. Isn't PDP fun?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed following the link to last time, then further through that to the rat party!
ReplyDeleteFirst to comment contest today ;))...Is there a contest??? Is there a prize??? A free trip to Paris??? Don't hold back Eric...Share!! LOL!!
ReplyDeleteSee...Ratz again!!! LOL!!! It is frightening sometimes to think of how Disney affects the world...I have a friend that works in special events for Disney in LA,I need to share this with her!!
Cute for a rat though!! LOL!!
Oh! Oh, oh, oh! You tricked me into clicking that and you knew it was that ghastly photo... Eric!
ReplyDeleteTHIS one is a cute photo yes, i don't know who he is at all but the idea seems good and the smart car in full looks fantastic.
Well done, Buzzgirl! Is there a prize for 17th place? :)

ReplyDeleteI've been looking for a really cute, cuddly plush Remy, but with no luck....anybody seen any? :)
ReplyDeleteSigikid creates nice rats plushes (trends/beast or rats of letters) http://www.koclicko.com/category/162_3_trends_sigikid_plushes.html How to get read of your valentine? offer 'robby raindrop'
ReplyDeleteFunny that you would mention Remy from Ratatouille, I thought of you when I saw that cute movie, especially the part where his father took him to the rat trap store front !
ReplyDeleteCute! You gotta admit, these Pixar guys are really talented!! Can't be all that easy to make a rat look friendly ;)
ReplyDeleteWhere could I get one for my smart?
ReplyDeleteIs he single?
ReplyDeleteI didn't see it! What a shame... I think I'm going to rent it, maybe tonight! It's very cute anyway. For once I like the rats!
ReplyDeletecute car and cute promo, great shot Eric.
ReplyDeletehow does he stay on the car? is it a magnet? i love that the spoon even says "France".
ReplyDeleteBibi: Looking at your blog photo, is it your dog looking for a plush rat because that's what terriers were bred for? Maybe Remi will need the spoon as defensive weapon!
ReplyDeleteGood advertising campaign. I haven't seen the film yet but now its on DVD I'll have to get my hands on a copy.
ReplyDeleteOh, Rats!
ReplyDeleteThe DVD's out here now, but I haven't seen any Smart cards around. Haven't seen the film either. I must get out more!
ReplyDeleteI showed "Ratatouille" to my junior high students back in November and they loved it. They laughed at me though when I got choked up at the beautiful scenes of Paris--like when Remy climbs up the building and gets his first view and realizes he's in Paris. I love that shot! Mon copain est cuisinier et il l'aime aussi!
ReplyDeleteI rarely see animated films, but I made it to the theater to see this one! I actually cried a little when the food critic started eating the ratatouille and he was transported back to his childhood. It was very sweet.
ReplyDeleteJeff, just saw your comment about rat terriers! Bibi's a cute mix of some sort with an underbite, but doesn't bite! Just likes stuffed rats.
ReplyDeleteSo, Eric, would this be difficult to steal???
ReplyDeletetres adorable (except that Daimler builds the smart, not Renault...) I wish I were there to see him!
ReplyDeleteDear little Remy! How funny that I watched Ratatouille last night. I hope I can find one of these to put atop my own car....
ReplyDeleteAwww, that's so cute! I want one! =)
ReplyDeleteI love rats, and have them as my pets. I love Ratatouille, too! I wonder if a person can buy a figurine like those used on the car...? (see http://weelittlebeasties.blogspot.com to see cute, loving rats - and mice - my friends...)
